“Are you sure we’ll make it? I’ve tried thirty- something times before,” Sarah sighed as she walked out of the bathroom with her long hair tied back. Even at fourteen she was so pretty, the prettiest of any of us. Memories of what Jamie said about this girl helping Harry too terrified me.
I looked up uncertainly as I felt Harry’s hands knot through mine. “You’ll be okay, baby. I’ll always make sure you’re okay.”
I sighed and leant my forehead against his chest, “I know, Haz.”
He chuckled, “Haz?”
“It’s not a bad nickname, courtesy of GA Tyler,” I muttered against his shirt with a smirk.
“GA Tyler? Ugh, she’s so irritating,” Sarah interrupted with a huff.
“Tell me about it,” I grumbled as Harry sniffed a chuckle into my neck.
“Okay, for five minutes you two are going to have to just calm down,” Nick muttered, glancing at Harry and I. “Harry, what do we do now?”
His hands slipped slowly off my hips as he walked over to the circle of us, me following behind.
“We head out through this window. Greg will lower everyone down. From there we will sneak across the grass. Sierra, you need to lead in the dark and everyone will form a chain behind you. I expect a lot of mechanical security measures, electric wiring, beams, cameras- the works. The good news is that there will probably be only one man there to supervise, which will make this moderately easy.”
“Easy?” I exclaimed, “This is going to be one of the most risky circumstances we’ve ever been in. This isn’t a video game. This is reality. There isn’t a reboot.”
“That’s what makes this fun,” Harry whispered with a smirk.
“Okay, let’s go then,” Snow muttered and she walked toward the window.
“Try to hold still,” Greg told her before he raised his hand. She followed his movements up into the night sky before being lowered to the ground under the window, about twenty yards down. It moved to Nick until everyone was down except Greg and I.
“I get sick, I can’t,” I told him with worry.
“How are you going to get down then?”
I heard Harry’s soft murmur in my head, ‘Just let Greg bring you down. We don’t have a lot of time.'
I didn’t want to let Harry down again. I sighed, “Fine you can-“
“Seh, I’m coming up! I need help choosing a dress for the seminar.”
My breathing hitched. I looked down at Harry. I can’t let Greg take me.
Harry, catch me.
I dived off the end as I saw his wide eyes watch me with open arms. It took me a second before I plummeted into him. He stood his ground firmly, and when I opened my eyes again he was holding me in his arms with a shocked expression.
As Greg’s feet reached the ground next to us, a scream echoed from Sarah’s room.
“We need to move!” Harry yelled in a whisper as he put me on my feet. I led everyone through the dark grounds, over the bridge, and across open grass before we reached the fence. It was at least ten metres high, with barbs and wiring and who knows what else.
“We’ll never get out that way,” I muttered, turning around to adrenalin pumping heartbeats. Harry looked around wildly.
“It’s too risky to try to get through the security guard-“
