Shane's POV:
Shane Madej always had a strange way of going about these paranormal investigations. For one thing, he was more skeptic than the word itself. And since he loved Ryan's reactions, he'd usually turn things up to an eleven on the arrogance scale. Now, unbeknownst to Shane, skepticism and science weren't the only reasons why he was rarely scared when they were out on these adventures. There was something unnatural inside of him, there always had been.
From a very young age, some people would stare at little Shane, as if they could sense whatever was entwined with his spirit. Of course, he never noticed this. After all, he was only a child, he just wanted to have fun. As the years passed, Shane got less looks and the 'sensation' that made some people feel uneasy near him, slowly dissipated. Again, not that he was aware of this, he simply lived his life how he wanted.
Once he and Ryan got famous thanks to their YouTube videos, thousands of viewers immediately took Shane's arrogance towards the supernatural as proof that he was a demon. The irony of this side of the fandom was that they were correct, even if Shane himself was not aware of this fact.
The reason why he didn't know of this was because the spirit was not a looming presence like in many other cases. His would hide in his mind, only coming out in rare occasions, mostly when he was asleep. So far no one had ever seen this thing take over or heard its voice, not even Shane himself, hence why this was his best kept secret. And the creature hoped that would continue being the case after this investigation.
The Buzzfeed Unsolved Crew flew into Newark Airport about three weeks after Ryan made the decision for the demon episode. After resting up in their hotel and making sure they had everything necessary for the investigation, they were off to the New Jersey Pine Barrens.
It was about 5:30 and they started to make a little camp-sight before nightfall. As most of the crew worked on this, Shane decided to take a walk through the woods for a while. He felt the urge to wander around the forest for some reason. He listened to the voice in his head and went off on his own.
Several feet away from the sight, he felt a bit strange. His body felt heavier and as if he was fainting. He propped himself up against a tree that was near him before shutting his eyes to try clearing his mind.
Once they opened, they were completely black.
"Ah, how I love places like these..." He said in a distorted voice. It was a mix of Shane's and the demon's voices, and shiver inducing to say the least.
As he started to levitate, a yell sent him back to the ground.
"Shane? Where'd you go?!"
He sighed. "Ryan, can't you let me breathe a little? You can't go five minutes without seeing him..."
He shook his head, clearing the human's mind. The eyes slowly faded to their normal colors and Shane felt like himself once more. His ear perked up in the direction Ryan's voice came from.
Really? What's with the yelling? We're not even filming yet! "I'm over here! Why do you sound scared? It's still light out!"
"Quit wandering off without telling the crew! You're like a little kid!" Ryan screamed irritatedly.
The white man rolled his eyes as he started walking back to the camp-sight. "Says the one who's scared to camp here tonight! I'm coming back, calm down!"
Shame. I felt cozy around these trees... Guess I'll have to wait for Ryan to be asleep.
