I didn't know what to say.
Here was Zayn, standing right in front of me with some blonde on his arm. It was safe to say that I was in shock.
"Zayn." I simply said.
Damon cleared his throat and my attention was brought back to him, "Uh, I'm Damon." He held his hand out for Zayn to shake. He looked at it for a few seconds before he finally did.
"I'm Tanya." The blonde next to Zayn said. I rolled my eyes and grabbed my wine glass. I took a big gulp as the waitress brought Zayn and Tanya to their table. It was right next to ours but still far enough so they couldn't hear what we were talking about and vice versa.
I felt like I was shaking. I was so hurt.
Zayn was here with another woman. I knew that it was all too good to be true.
The woman that he was with seemed like she was more suitable to be with him instead of me. Seeing him hit me like a ton of bricks.
"(Y/n), you okay?" Damon asked me, snapping me back into reality.
I nodded, "I'm fine."
"Is he an old friend of yours?" He questioned, referring to Zayn.
"Something like that." I mumbled.
"Do you want to leave?"
I shook my head, "No, that would be silly. I'm okay, Damon."
He smiled a little and reached across the table. He placed his hand over mine and rubbed his thumb against it soothingly.
I had to try so hard not to look over at the table to my right. I didn't want to see what was going on between Zayn and his date, Tanya.
Our waiter came a few minutes later and refilled our wine glasses. I didn't even realized that I had drank all of mine in a matter of minutes.
"Your food will be out in a few minutes." The waiter said before he left. It got a little quiet between Damon and I.
I could hear mumbles over at Zayn's table, but couldn't make out the words. I decided that even though Zayn was a few feet away from me, I wasn't going to let him ruin my night.
I just wished that I was out with him instead of Tanya.
"So, do you think that you are going to win Teacher of the Year again?" I asked Damon.
He shrugged his shoulders, "I'm not sure. I hope that I will. I mean, I've been working my hardest with my class this year and I think that it shows."
"I think the majority of the staff votes for you for your looks." I joked.
Damon smiled a little, "Is that while you voted for me?"
"Maybe." I teased.
Damon and I started chatting about some of the other teachers at the school and I found myself having a good time. I didn't know if it was the wine that was causing the change in my mood.
I took another sip and let the alcohol relax me. Back when I would go out on dates, I didn't drink at all. I wanted to be fully alert on what was going on. Once I saw Zayn, that all went down the toilet.
"You might want to pace yourself. I was hoping that we could go for a walk after this." Damon chuckled.
"Sorry." I giggled. The alcohol was definitely taking effect.
The waiter came and brought our food. It was then that I glanced over at Zayn's table. Tanya was on her phone texting away. Zayn looked really bored. I felt a little bad for him, but that quickly went away.
