The ride was fine. The taxi driver didn't ask much about our quite strange appearance and I felt relieved when we finally said goodbye to the skyscrapers of Busan. With my feet aching and my upper body feeling numb, I slowly drifted to sleep.
“A dog!” I heard a shout and jolted in my seat.
“Look! Oh, it's a puppy!” Taehyung giggled, showing me a pet shop advertisement.
“What is wrong with you?” I groaned and fell back finding a more comfortable position.
He came closer and cuddled me. I caught a glimpse of the driver eyeing us weirdly as I wrapped my hands around the excited boy.
“I want to see more dogs on this trip.” He smiled
“Of course you want” I said before drifting off to sleep.
The taxi dropped us at a convenience store after Taehyung's instructions.
We had been on the road for three hours at least, spending a lot of time in the morning traffic.
“Wanna buy some fruit” he whispered to me as we stepped out.
Readjusting his mask, he made his way to the store walking like he just peed on himself. Gosh what is he?
I grabbed his arm and took his backpack without a word.
Five minutes later, I was roaming around the corridors, emptying every basket in the clothes section. Heading to the bathroom I took took some hair dye and prepared myself for what will come next.
I saw him standing near the exit, looking lost in his thoughts again.
“You, black. Me…” I took a look at the box “whatever color this is.”
He nodded his head and followed me to the women's bathroom. Luckily, no one was there but for our protection I decided to lock us in a cabin.
I never expected dying hair would be that hard. Or was it because I had to do it to him?
“You know you ain't doing that right.” He murmured for the twentieth time. “Right?”
He was looking at me with those big eyes of his, head turned slightly backwards forbidding me to do anything with his hair.
“I don't see anything wrong happening here.” I argued.
The truth was; I messed up. All the dye was gathered at the top of his head, barely covering the edges while the hair on his nape were still a light brown color coming in contrast with the black abyss I had created. It looked pathetic.
“I'm sorry” I cried out. “It looks awful.”
“Yeah, I figured that out.” He said in a calm voice, looking at his destroyed hair from a small glitter mirror. “Just try spreading the dye a bit.” He seemed disgusted after that.
I apologized repeatedly for quite some time.
“I never knew there were such useless people like you.” He said at some point and I immediately regretted saying sorry to him.
It didn't look that awful at its final stage, probably a bit off but certainly not recognizable.
“Your turn now!” Taehyung giggled and I felt my soul leaving my body.
“Not my hair too…” I mumbled, pouting.
“Hey, why did you buy that anyway?”
“I haven't bought it yet.” was the truth.
“Irrelevant, you shall change hair color too. You won't be the basic girl anymore.” He basically insulted me.
He sat me down on the poor toilet seat, which now looked like a mummy due to the hundreds of paper he wasted for the sake of hygiene.
I could imagine him smirking evilly behind my back, ready to give me a pay back. I heard him getting the gloves, opening the package finally burst the whole dye to my skull.
“ I have no idea what color this thing is, but I would say a baby pink would fit you best. Or a light blue? No?...” he continued.
“Can you please shut it for a bit, it's a big change for me.” I said quietly.
The answer I got was a simple chuckle. Thankfully, he thought better and stopped talking.
I gulped, presuming that I looked like a witch. But when I felt his angelic hands massaging slowly, I instantly relaxed.
He continued for what seemed like ages, murmuring a happy song from time to time.
It felt so peaceful. As if I wasn't in the toilet of a kinda suspicious store at nowhere, in a foreign country, with a man I just met yesterday and payed me for keeping him company when the media is probably going crazy for his disappearance.
My eyes widen when I heard footsteps. I turned at the door. My mind forgetting everything peaceful.
And then there were four knocks.
“Are you alright there?” A female voice spoke.
“We're fine lady, thanks.” Taehyung answered with his deep, masculine voice.
“Are you freaking stupid?” We are in a women's bathroom!!”
“Oh,” the voice said, “don't worry, I understand. Many couples do that here. Just please, there many people waiting and this is the only cabin working. And clean a bit after.”
I hadn't felt my cheeks that hot for years. I must've been looking like a rotten tomato. Taehyung didn't look that fine either.
In the time of ten minutes we washed our heads and freshly dyed hair, gathered all of our things and ran to the cashier. Luckily, I had two scarfs inside my back and i hastily managed to wrap them around his and my head.
From the moment he paid, we both came into a realisation.
We had again no idea what to do next.
