I'm swimming in a space of sand
And drowning in a sea of sky.
These fields are a consoling hand
That kneels to wipe my lashes dry.
I lay and watch the grasses sway,
A crater gaping in my chest.
The chill wind blows my mind away
And with it all this heaviness.
The day recedes into the dirt
And evening through the meadow creeps
I have become too numb to hurt.
I close my eyes and dream of sleep.
