Alright, I guess I'll update... wouldn't want you guys to be worried ;)
CHAPTER 3
Being drugged is weird.
It's like you're asleep, but you want to desperately wake up, but you desperately can't because it's not like you're sleeping, and you can wake yourself up. When you're drugged, you can't wake yourself up because the drugs are keeping you're mind asleep.
But once they lift, your head aches, and things are a bit blurry, and when you want to open your eyes, you do but it's like you're staring into blackness. Empty blackness.
And then the lights lift and you're awake. It's a strange sensation, but it goes by faster than you'd think.
I see Tris and Tori when I wake up, but I also see Bass. I'd scream, Get away from her! if could speak, but I'm just getting used to these blinding lights. I catch snippets of the conversation.
"...tried to attack me..." someone says. "...had to take matters into my own..." they continue. "...I'm sorry."
It's Tris saying this to Bass. He looks at me and sees that I'm awake. Instead of running to my side, like concerned brothers should do, he rolls his eyes and says, "You idiot."
I sit up from where I am, and it appears to be one of the tattoo chairs. I rub my head and narrow my eyes. "I'm the idiot? They were going to kill me! They know about my Divergence."
He has an impatient look in his eyes. "I know they do, Cath. They just panicked when you saw what they were doing."
I exhale, now that it's obvious, and laugh a little. "You couldn't have told me before I tried to attack her?"
Tris smiles and Tobias just looks annoyed. "Whatever. Now stop trying to kill people." He turns to Tris. "See you later," he murmurs. He kisses her on the cheek. I wrinkle my nose.
"Ew, not in front of me, please." I complain. Bass smirks and takes Tris's face in his hands, and has a full on make-out session. I pretend to gag over the side of my chair and I hear Tobias laughing in the background. When I look back up, I say, "You'd do the same if you saw me and Patch kissing,"
My eyes go wide once I say it. I forgot that I didn't tell him we were back together... and now he's going to go off ranting.
"What?" he asks, nostrils flared eyebrows folded.
"I mean, back when we were a couple." I try to clarify smoothly. After years of lying, I still got it.
"Oh," he says. "Okay. I'll try to talk to you later." He walks out of the tattoo parlor and Tris turns to me. Before she can say anything, I tell her, "I know about what he did to you. You don't have to off ranting about him. He's a terrible person. Worse mistake of my life."
She exhales and nods. She hands me the butt of my gun and I apologize once again for almost killing her. She smiles and says it's fine. Tris has a few words with Tori before she nods and they open up the tattoo shop once again. I stand up from the chair.
"Tori?" I ask. When she turns to me, I say, "I want a tattoo. Just a small one. Do you have time?"She looks eager when she nods. I ask her for a lightening bolt...but I hesitate. Are Patch and I really serious? Is he worth permanently marking my skin? I mean, we love each other, but we're still uncertain about him working for Eric. I'm uncertain of him working for Eric. I finally make my decision against it and go with my second option.
"I want an Eagle," I decide. "Right here, over my heart." I point to the left of my chest. No one else is in the shop, so it's not so bad, and I trust Tori. She's professional when it comes to tattooing.
