Kira
I waited nervously at the spot where Milo and I usually met, thinking the worst. He always was here before me and school ended twenty minutes ago. Maybe he was just talking to a teacher or something. I'd give him five more minutes and I'd try to find him. I almost wanted him to take longer. That would mean I would be able to put off driving a little bit more. This morning I drove to school by myself for the first time in a year and it was terrifying. My Mom had been driving with me to school for the past couple of weeks. I was extremely scared but it was better than having another person in the car I guess. I got to school without a scratch. I was still scared something was going to happen. I guess it would be good if Milo came now.He could always calm me down. He was so calm and mellow all the time. It helped put out my fiery temper and my deepest worries. Like, today, at lunch, I was scared because I was going to sing the ensemble my group was working on.
"They all have the lowest expectations of me," I ranted to Milo, anxiously, "I just want to do really well to impress them! I want to make them believe in me you know?"
"I get that but you can't let their opinions control you so much. You just try to impress yourself and your teacher. You'll be great! I know you will!"
"You haven't even heard me sing."
"Yes but...I don't know... I just can tell! Do you want me to skip class to listen to you perform?"
"No! I mean...it's ok. Thanks for helping me though."
"No problem."
Soon, the dreaded class came. Milo insisted on walking me to my class.
"I can find my way to my class," he said, "I just wanted to make sure you're ok before you sing."
"Your so sweet," I giggled, smiling at him, "but really, I'll be fine. I think."
"You can do it!"
Out of impulse, I wrapped my arms around him.
"Thanks so much for everything!"
"No problem," he breathed, seeming tense.
The bell rang and we both went our separate ways. I turned to enter the class and ran straight into Riley. Probably the last person I would want to see today.
"Watch where you're going," I grumbled, remembering the things he did to Milo earlier in the day.
A wicked smile grew in his face.
"He doesn't know does he?"
"Know what?" I spat, not in the mood for his games.
"That you're Poppy Love." his blue eyes filled with glee.
I gulped, a surprised look on my face. He had caught me completely off guard.
"Well...I mean...it's none of your business!"
He just laughed and walked away with an evil smirk on his face. The blood drained from my face. What if he told Milo who I really was? I couldn't let that happen! I was about to give Riley a piece of my mind when our teacher got our attention.
"Time to start class everyone!" She said, "I'll give you fifteen minutes to get together with your group and then we'll start performances."
I sat down with the group and decided to wait to threaten Riley later. I didn't want Andrea and Emily to know what was going on too.
"Riley, why are you wearing that ugly scarf?" Emily squealed when she saw him, "it's at least thirty degrees outside!"
"I like it," he shot back, unusually defensive.
