Your P.O.V.
You should be better than this, you're out of practice, I snarled to myself. How had I let him get behind me? It's because Maria was there, I had tried to protect her and my mind had gotten muddled and my reaction time slowed down. But this is the situation I've gotten myself into, I got too cocky and stopped practicing. Well like hell im going to forget now.
"Maria, get out of here!"
"Not without you (Y/n)! I called the cops!" SHIT! If she called the cops then Reese will start getting desperate. The gun rattled against my skull, he was getting shaken up, but I couldn't do anything with Maria here, not when he had a gun, he was going to impossible to guess his next move when he was in this state. But if I could get her out of here, I could subdue him easily, and the security cameras would only show me acting in self defense. I took a deep breath, and looked Maria dead in the eye.
"Get out of here, hide in the stairwell until the police get here, I can take care of him."
Something in my eyes must have convinced her, because she just nodded and ran down towards the stairwell. Reese leaned down and purred into my ear, but his voice wasn't even anymore, there was one more emotion there, one I had learned to use to my advantage. Fear.
"You won't be able to do anything to me, you aren't anything but a sad little bitch."
"Suck my dick, asshole."
I had less than two seconds to act after I said those words. Two seconds. The police would be here in two minutes, no make that one and a half. I can do this, just do what you always do (y/n), you can't be killed here, you still have work to do.
One. My hand shot up and grabbed the gun and at the same time my foot stomped hard on his, and I ducked my head. Two. Bang. Almost without thinking I spun on my other foot and swept his legs out from under him. He fell to the ground in shock, hand loosening on the gun as I wrenched it out of his hand and flipped over him as I landed at his head and stood, gun pointing between his eyes.
"What was that, sweetheart, did you say something?"
"Wh- H- W- Yo-"
"Shhh now..."
I could feel the apathy on my face, and Reese's shocked face was all that I needed to know I had won. I was my turn to purr. I cocked my head to one side and smiled down at the gangly child that I had used as a pawn once upon a time.
"It's past your bedtime. Where's your mama?"
"You fucking bit-"
I twirled the knife in my other hand.
"Watch your tounge, you wouldn't want to lose it."
He lost all color in his face, looking like a ghost in the fluorescent lights of the hallway.
Police sirens reached my ears, and my smiled widened.
"There they are, a little late are they? Time to put on an act."
I walked in front of him, with the gun still pointed at him, and assumed a scared, half-crouch, throwing the knife towards the wall. I heard the police running up the stairs, heard them encounter Maria. I started to shake wildly and cry as if I had just gone through the worst experience of my life.
"HANDS IN THE AIR!"
I looked back at the police and drooped the gun and ran to them, sobbing and sputtering about an attempted assault and a horrible ex and other nonsense.
"Ma'am, it's going I be alright."
"We got some information from your friend, don't worry."
"I'm sure you're scared, let's get you some water."
