I find Nathan sitting next to a fence post with his head in his hands and Justin just a couple feet away. To a normal person it would look like Justin is trying to distance himself but that’s not the case. Nathan has put up a barrier or force field, you could call it, that blocks out everyone and everything meaning that Justin is standing just at the edge because he can’t get any closer.

I walk up to the barrier and put my hand on it, it dissolves instantly. I walk over to him until I’m a couple of centimetres away before talking.

“Nathan?” he doesn’t move.

“Nathan I’m okay. I’m not hurt anymore and no one else is either.” He still doesn’t move.

“If you don’t look at me I’m going to scream.” Immediately he looks up.

“See I’m fine. This is different than last time, there is nothing to worry about. Okay?” he looks down and nods.

I turn to Justin who is looking confused but doesn’t say anything.

“I’m sorry about all this. I would explain but I’m not sure how much the organisation has told you about us.”

“Yeah they haven’t explained much, all they really said was that you were different and that you have special powers or something.”

“Well I will talk to our supervisor and have you moved to another team-”

“What? Why do I need to move to another team?”

“Justin we are different for others. We are dangerous and unpredictable we don’t even know what we are capable of at times. Besides you are new here and if you are in our team people are going to-” I start to argue bet he just stands there with a confused look on his face.

I sigh “Okay, have you made any friends since you started here?”

“Yeah I have made heaps of friends.”

“What would you do if you lost them? How would you feel?”

“What does this have to do-”

“Are your friends important to you?”

“Of course, but what does that have to do with you? You are different, so what?”

“Justin we are dangerous, people are scared of us. If they find out you have anything to do with us they will pretend that you don’t exist as well. We even have to live outside the organisation because of that.” I watch his expression. He is unsure of what to do but he doesn’t seem to be taking my warning.

“Fine, do what you want but don’t say I didn’t warn you.” I turn to Nathan he hasn’t moved.

“Okay, Justin you can go back to the organisation and we will finish the rest off. Nathan needs to calm down a bit before we go home.”

“He looks perfectly calm to me.” He says as if he is protesting.

“Trust me he’s nowhere near clam inside.” I say before walking away with Nathan trailing behind me.
