Sola lay wide awake, staring up at the stars.

She tried to sleep, she really did. However, her mind kept wandering to that flying bison. The look of misery in its eyes through the cruel iron bars. She could just imagine the abuse that it went through as images of Fire Nation soldiers herding her out of the cage with metal prods danced in her mind.

Namjoon was snoring loudly next to her ear, making her more agitated. She knew he couldn't help it, but sometimes it was annoying. Jimin, who was on the other side of Namjoon, seemed to be thinking the same thing as he elbowed Namjoon in his sleep. Namjoon let out one more thunderous snore as he rolled onto his side, facing Sola.

Sola got out of her sleeping bag and walked toward Hoseok who was awake, keeping watch. He looked at her with confusion as she started walking towards him.

"What are you doing up? You have the last shift tonight," Hoseok questioned.

Sola crossed her arms, the night breeze causing goosebumps to rise on her arms. "Namjoon is about to burst my damn eardrum. I know we have to stay close together for warmth, but do I really have to be right next to him?"

Hoseok giggled, a happy little sound that contrasted the exhaustion behind his eyes, "He's your brother, Sola. He doesn't want anyone else sleeping so close to you, so you get stuck with him on one side and the campfire on the other."

"It's not like you guys are going to try anything while I sleep," Sola mumbled, sitting down next to Hoseok. "Besides, if you do, I'll castrate you myself."

"Trust me, we all know that, but you can't blame Namjoon for being protective. You might not be his blood sister, but some bonds are thicker than blood. He would do anything for you. Hell, we all would," Hoseok rationalized.

Sola and Hoseok sat in silence for a little bit before Sola spoke up again, "What was your childhood like?"

Hoseok let out a dry life, "Safe, peaceful, protected."

"Sounds like a dream," Sola imagined.

"It was mind-numbingly boring," Hoseok deadpanned. Sola looked at him with a quirked eyebrow. "The only outlet for earth bending was the stupid Earth Rumble Stadium. We fought each other for money, completely ignoring any outside threats. But I wasn't stupid, and neither was my father. He did a lot of trading with other towns, and he heard about everything."

"You guys really fought each other for money? That was the best outlet of training Gaoling could come up with?" Sola asked.

Hoseok nodded, "It's completely stupid, not to mention barbaric. I don't know if anyone died during the fights, but countless people were injured. If in some strange turn of events, Gaoling was attacked, we would be completely unprepared. I didn't want to be there to see it. I didn't want to waste my abilities in some stupid competition. That's why I took up your ad for an earth bending trainer."

"Tell me, honestly," Sola giggled before she even got the thought out, "was there any point where you thought that Namjoon was actually an Earth Bender?"

Hoseok let out a loud laugh, Sola slapping a hand over his mouth so that he wouldn't wake the others. After he had calmed down, Sola slowly removed her hand, "No. Once I saw him in person, I could tell from his build and muscle tone that his body wasn't trained in earth bending."

Sola smiled, "That's why we picked you. No one else that applied could figure out why Namjoon couldn't even move a pebble. You knew from the moment you laid eyes on him. You also had a flame for adventure in your heart."

"It was fate. Destiny, or whatever you want to call it," Hoseok smiled. Sola rested her head on his shoulder. "You should probably go get some sleep before you have to keep watch."
