chapter s e v e n. Noah Denvers.

I watched. I watched from next to her bed.I watched with my hands locked together as I held them near my mouth.I watched as her eyes slowly...slowly...flickered open for the second time today. She shut them almost immediately as if she didn't want to see the world or...as if she wanted her eyes to be closed instead of opened.I felt the guilt kicking in when I noticed the bandage on her arm,it's where I made Reagan inject her to sleep because she had woken up earlier screaming that she wanted to go home.I couldn't let her leave and I didn't want her to leave,so I made him put her to sleep to simply making her stay.

"Where..." She whispered in a raspy voice, "where am I?" She finished asking, her hand reached up to block the bright lights in my bedroom. I rasied two fingers in the air towards the lights to signal Oak to dim the lights and he did.

I wanted to speak to her, but I knew it wasn't my turn. All the important medical stuff needed to be put out the way first.I looked up, watching Reagan Rerands looking at his...patient with concerned eyes.

"You're at Noah's house...I'm a doctor. Do you remember anything?" Reagan asked her, sound highly professional. I made sure he was doing his job correctly, by not touching her when he didn't need to and that he wasn't hurting her like he hurts us sometimes. Reagan Rerands is the reason Lucian still has his left arm, the reason why Oakley didn't bleed out, the reason Fox still has his three fingers and the reason I am alive.

When you're in the business we are in, you get hurt and when we get hurt going to the hospitals or visiting doctors draws suspicion. That why we have Reagan Rerands, a twenty-eight year old unemployed doctor. He use to work in his father's doctor's office until he was fired...his dad caught him stealing some of the meds for himself and his friends.I think we found each other at the right time though, one night on the job another dumbass shot me in the shoulder twice, Lucian called for anyone to help us and that's when a tipsy Reagan showed up with a medical bag and a beer bottle. He helped me survive and I returned that favor by making him our doctor. He lived in an apartment a block away that I bought for him and he makes double the money he use to make working for me.

"Noah." She whispered. She opened her eyes again, looking for me.My stomach did multiple flips at that and my fireworks were going off.I gently reached for her hand making her turn to look at me,wide confused mossy green eyes, messy golden brown curls, cherry red pouted lips and the innocence of a child all staring at me.

"Hey,don't worry. You're okay now,I'm here." I reassured her, noticing the fear in her eyes and posture.I didn't understand why she was so scared, but then again I didn't understand anything when it comes to her.I didn't understand why she's so beautiful, why she's so different, why she captures my attention so much, why she had a little boy with her during the robbery, why she gets mistreated at work or why she has so many bruises and wounds on her being.I don't understand, she's like a math problem that I'm trying to understand, but even math wasn't this complicated.

"I need to ask you some questions and do some procedures to make sure you're fine...it that okay?" Reagan asked,a slightly distracted Phoenix.Phoenix looked at him briefly, then looked at me as if she was asking for permission.I half smiled, gently squeezed her hand and nodded.

Reagan asked her what year it was, when she was born, and her name. She did really good until it came to her name, she would pause and actually think about it until she finally remembered it.She said her head was aching and Reagan started looking nervous.

"Did you remember how the person or even know the person who did this to you?" Reagan asked, flashing a little light into her eyes and made her follow it.Sometimes her orbs would look down and then look at the light. She didn't seem tensed at the questions...she didn't seemed nervous...she seemed emotionless.
