Chapter 30

On the Friday before your baby shower, you went to the store and bought a baby pink sundress that had cold shoulder sleeves and a new pair of white sandals. You had your french manicure touched up and had them paint your toenails white. When you got home, you put your dress away and called your sister. She was gonna be staying with you until your due date because you were having false labor pains and Colby didn't want you being home alone if you went into labor early.

Colby got into town around 3 PM. You were standing in the kitchen finishing a late lunch talking to Stephanie when he came walking through the garage door with his hands behind his back. You turned around and ran up to him and wrapped your arms around his neck and kissed him, but he didn't hug you back. You pulled back and looked at him confused and he smiled. He pulled his arms from behind his back and handed you a big bouquet of pink roses and a bag of Sour Patch Kids (your favorite candy and something you've been craving through the whole pregnancy). You took the roses and candy from him and he grabbed your face in his hands and kissed you again. Stephanie took the roses from you and put them in a face and put them down on the table and set the table as you hugged Colby.

After lunch, you and Colby and Stephanie went to get the rest of the things you needed for the baby shower and went back home and spent the day laughing and talking.

The next morning, you and Colby got ready for your baby shower. You flat ironed your hair and put on the outfit you had bought and put on pink eyeshadow as a smokey eye and added mascara and nude lipstain. Colby put on a pair of jeans and a white T-Shirt and his white sneakers and pulled his hair back into a messy bun and the two of you made your way downstairs to see that Stephanie had finished decorating. Everyone was already showing up and you joined in on the conversations, excited to see your families again. The shower went amazing. Everyone got you baby clothes, diapers, toys, all kinds of things. Once you finished opening presents, you and Colby stood in front of the double doors leading out to the deck holding hands and announced that you had picked a name. "Alright, everyone. Rachael and I have been talking about names and we finally settled on one last month. Rach, you wanna tell them?" "Well, as most of you know, Colby and I are huge fans of Supernatural and since it's sadly ending this year, we've been rewatching every night; most of the time on FaceTime since he's gone most of the time. Well.. We are currently on the season where God's sister comes into the picture and we both loved this name and have decided to name our baby Amara Lynn". Everyone gave an awww and hugged you and Colby and congratulated you.

After everyone left, Colby and Stephanie helped Joe and Galina clean up. On Monday morning, you got up and made breakfast for Colby, Stephanie, Joe, and Galina. After everyone ate Colby kissed you and left with Stephanie and Joe to the next city and you and Galina took tags off of baby clothes and hung them up and put away everything else. You LOVED the swing that her and Joe got. It was kind of like a carseat that swung when you turned it on.

The following weeks included weeky doctors appointments. You were almost to your due date! On February 24th, you were standing in the kitchen talking to Galina when you felt a sharp pain in your belly. "Rachael, what's wrong?" "I think I just had a contraction". She quickly called your doctor and she said to go to the hospital when they're 5-7 minutes apart. You couldn't believe that you were gonna have this baby a week early. Galina helped you to the couch and you sat there until Galina had gotten your hospital bag. Good thing you packed it the week before. It was almost 7 PM and you HAD to call Colby.

Colby: Hey babe, I'm about to go out, but I got a few minutes

You: Colby, I'm having contractions

Colby: You're what!?

You: Get here quick, babe... I need you... My contractions are 20 minutes apart

You heard what you assumed was Colby running. He must've forgotten that he was on the phone. After Galina met you in the living room, you had her get your slide on Nike sandals, your face went white. "Rach, what's wrong?" "My water broke". You and Galina headed for the hospital and got you checked in. You got to your room and a nurse helped you into a hospital gown and you tied your hair up into a messy bun.

It was now around 11 PM and you were only dilated to a 6. You and Galina were talking when Colby and Joe came running into the room, still in their ring gear. Colby went running over to you and grabbed your hand. "Where are we?" "Dilated to a 6... Why are you in your gear?" "I went running down the hall and grabbed Joe; I didn't have time to change". He kissed you and pulled his hair back into a messy bun. Joe sat his bag down next to Galina and kissed her and went into the bathroom and changed into a pair of jeans and a Hounds of Justice T-Shirt and a pair of sneakers. "Colby, do you want us to run to your house for a change of clothes?". Colby was sitting on the edge of your bed holding your hand. "Uh.. Yeah.. Please". He threw his keys to Joe and the two of them left to get his clothes. "How are you feeling?" "Tired. Very tired". Colby kissed your temple and the doctor came in. "Okay Mrs.Lopez, let's see where we are now *the doctor checked and you were dilated to a 10. It was time to start pushing* Alright, let's start pushing. Dad, keep mom calm". Colby held your right hand with his and kept his left arm behind your back and you started to push.
