Aiden
I spent the whole dinner on auto-pilot. I couldn't talk to my friends or eat much.
She is here.
I wanted to think it was not her voice I heard, but the girl calling her name could not be ignored.
Did she run away?
Who wouldn't after everything that happened?
I didn't want to think about it. To think about her. But she is here now, so there is no escaping.
I knew my friends noticed something was off, and my sister was the most suspicious one of them all so, after dinner, I went straight to my room.
I came to my room and turned on the lights. I don't know why I still do it. It's not like I see any better when the lights are on.
It's not like I see at all.
Old habits die hard and that shit probably. Or maybe I just want some semblance of my old life.
Stupid.
Like turning the lights on can change anything."Aiden."
"Shit." My sister really knew how to be subtile. Not.
I did not expect her here jet so hearing her voice just now nearly gave me a heart attack.
"Are you trying to scare the shit out of me? Remind me, why did I give you that room key in the first place?"
"Because you love me to the moon and back.", She said sweetly trying to be sarcastic. But it was true. We were twins after all, so the closeness came naturally to us. She was my best friend.
"Father called. Said you didn't answer when he called you."
"I left my phone here. Was he calling because of something important?"
"Nah, he and mum just wanted to know how was everything. And they wanted to warn us that we have to come to the anual charity ball. So no trips around that time."
"Per usual. I think they will mention it everytime they call in the next 4 months."
"What the hell happend before dinner, Aiden?", she asked.
And here it is. Straight to the point. I have to sit down for this one.
After finding a place to sit on one of the sofas, I decided to answer."I don't know what you're talking about."
"You know who I am talking about."
"How is your boyfriend, sis?"
"Patrick is just fine and you are avoiding my question."
"And I am not subtile about it too, drop it please, it was nothing."
"Really, nothing? Some random girl running away in tears after she saw you doesn't sound like nothing to me.", she stated.
That sister of mine can be so annoying I want to kill her. If I tell her anything she will start meddling and I know for a fact that that won't end up well.
"Besides", she continued with her interrogation, "have you seen her face after she turned that corner and saw you standing there?"
I had to laugh at that. Her sense of humor has always been wierd.
"I just love it when you joke about my situation."
"That's what I tought. But you still haven't answered my question, who is she?"
"I don't know whom you are talking about. As you may know, I couldn't see her."
"Don't give me that shit you idiot. You recognised her voice, I know you did." She started talking faster because she was getting angry now. She usually did when things didn't go her way, or when she couldn't get the answers she was looking for.
