"How are things around there?"
"I don't know. Good I guess."
"You sure sound like you are having time of your life. Are you forced to eat bugs or something? Is that it?"
"Ha ha Janice. It is fine. I did run into one girl I know since I was a kid so I am hanging out with her group. They are nice. How is England?"
"Dull. Weather is never-changing. Food is terrible. But people are nice. College is great. I love it. My flatmates are nice. Especially that girl from Turkey I told you about. But I still miss you guys and our girl's nights."
I had to laugh at that.
"I know you do. You practically lived for them."
"Well, I need an excuse to get drunk once in a while. And now I don't have one."
"Poor you.", was my instant answer.
Janice is like that. She loves to party. She loves to get drunk. She loves one-night stands. She hates obligations. She hates relationships. And most of all, she hates emotions. She was not always like that. No, she became like that after her father left her mother when she was five.
"I heard that Chance goes to Academia."
"Soph told you, didn't she?"
"Of course she did you moron, how could have you not told me? Have you at least punched him good?"
"Of course not. I don't think he knows I am here."
"Oh really? Are you made od glass so you are see-trough?"
"No, he is blind Jan."
"Finally, some fucking justice. He got what he deserved"
"Janice! What the hell?! Don't say that ever again."
"Like hell I won't. You know I forced Soph to spill all the details. He charmed you and then slept with you for the whole duration of the camp. Promised to contact you even. But somehow he forgot to mention he had a girlfriend. I am even more pissed because you fell for him. Fell for him hard."
"Still. I don't want..."
"No, listen. Do not feel sorry for him. He lied to you, led you on. If he had told you it is only sex and only while the program lasted it would have been completely different story. Friend or not, I would have told you it was your fault because he had made his intentions clear. But that had not been the case. Think about it. He cheated on his girl with you. That is not a boyfriend material . And, let's not forget he lied about his name."
"He didn't lie. Chance is his middle name."
"Are you defending him?!", asked Janice completely pissed.
"No, I mean, I... have to go Janice. Practice and all of that."
"Don't you dare hang...", I hung up before she could finish her sentence and send both me and Aiden to the deepest circle of hell. She can not stand bullshit. Especially not this kind of bullshit.
I don't know what is wrong with me.
Two years ago, during one of the best camps for young and talented musicians I had met Chance. He was intelligent, talented, funny, confident. Even then he looked like Adonis himself. And, like a moth to a flame, I was instantly drawn to him.
He seduced me, consumed my every tought, broke down all my walls.
That energy that surrounded him separated him from the rest of us. God walking around mortals.
Maybe it was just my mind playing tricks with me. Maybe noone else saw him in the same superior light I did.
