Eventually night fell and Zayn brought everyone back home, including Harry. To show his thanks, Zayn and Louis cooked a fancy dinner that took them late into the night, and of course, Harry stayed around for the feed. It was around midnight when Zayn called everyone into the dining hall to eat, and none of the boys were tired. In fact, they all were bouncing with energy, as if they had just woken up, but that wasn’t the case. They had spent the entire afternoon and evening out in that meadow, practicing all sorts of new magic. Of course, Niall got it on his first try, but Luke wasn’t too far behind. Even Ashton mastered what he was taught rather quickly. All in all, it was a good day for training and Zayn couldn’t be happier.

“So we’re celebrating.” Luke spoke as he sat down, “But celebrating what exactly?” As Luke spoke, Ashton turned to him in agreement. It wasn’t odd to have them master their magic this easily, and normally, Zayn never cooked like this.

You think it’s because Harry’s here? Ashton thought as he looked directly at Luke, who nodded almost immediately after Ashton sent his thoughts. But why? Why is he trying to impress Harry? Ashton’s thoughts were loud and somewhat angry. Luke had no answer for him as he, himself, had no idea why Zayn, of all people, wanted to impress Harry.

“We’re celebrating a new friend.” Zayn smiled. “Harry is now our friend. He helped us with training so we shall welcome him as a friend. It’s up to him whether or not he accepts.” When Zayn’s voice died down, everyone looked at him as if he were crazy – all except Niall and Harry of course. Niall thought this was a great idea. Having Harry around more would make things easier. “Do you accept Harry?”

“Liam wouldn’t like it.” Harry spoke softly, “In fact, he’d hate this. He’d hate knowing I helped you train.” Harry bit his lip gently, shifting his eyes casually to the side so he could get a quick look at Niall. There was this certain look in Niall’s eyes that dripped with temptation – with desire – with want, and Harry knew he couldn’t pass it up, “But absolutely. We all can be friends.”

“How about no.” Luke was quick as he scoffed, pushing away from the table, “C’mon Ashton, this is ridiculous.” Luke’s words were rash but were cut short. Zayn wasn’t going to tolerate Luke’s sour attitude any longer.

“Hemmings, sit down.” The words rolled off Zayn’s tongue, “Now.” His tone was cold, but Luke remained standing, “You defy me?” Zayn was now looking up towards, Luke who still had his smug expression.

“I don’t defy you, Zayn – I defy Harry and his false loyalty. Zayn, you’re a smart man, but it amazes me how dumb you can be at times. Can’t you see you’re playing right into his and Liam’s hands? Haven’t you thought this out? Christ, they probably planned this, and soon you’re going to be sorry.” Luke huffed and quickly turned on his heel, leaving the dining hall, “Ashton!”

“Sorry Zayn…” Ashton whimpered before following Luke up to the bedrooms. Zayn watched as Ashton ran off too. He was mortified. He was embarrassed. How dare they ignore him and disobey him like that?

“Zayn?” This time it was Louis who was speaking, “You know me. I’ve stuck by your side all this time, but this is something I can’t condemn. Why Harry? Why so suddenly? I’m sure you have your reasons, but as of right now, I just can’t buy it. But later, I want to hear your side of this story so I have a better understanding.” Louis had a frown on his face and soon he too left the dining hall.
