Lispy Lips

"Lispy lips!"

You let out a raspy grunt as you were shoved to the ground, tears pricking at the corners of your eyes.

It was brutal, relentless even; how these junkies decided to beat on you.

Granted, you were small and an easy target but you had never encountered these people in your life. They seemed to be teasing you about your lisp but the loud clang and ring of your ears blocked out their pliable screaming and taunts.

Something told you to stay down and take it like the little shit you were, but another wanted you to fight. To stand up for yourself and to protect whatever you cherished about your face.

But as usual, you took the hits with a whine each and every time.

You would return home without a word from your drunken Uncle, throwing your bag to the side as your body ached.

You trucked up the stairs and into your comfortable bed, wrapping your awfully skinny and frail body inside the wonderfully comforting sheets laying idly on your bed.

These sheets seemed to mean a lot to you, as they were quite clearly worn and overused. Yet still, they held a warm spot in whatever childhood you possessed, and decided to keep them once your mother had passed away.

Before your dad hauled you off to live with your uncle, he was a shoulder to lean on. An important family member you held dear. But now? He was too held up in work to even text Sollux, leaving the teen confused and alone.

Not that he minded, he had always preferred to wilt at his computer all day even with his dad by his side.

Choking back a sob, you eyed your wounded eye and chest with a painful sigh.

Everything hurt, and you felt like drowning in your own pitiful sorrow.

You wanted to scream, to cry out and die right here in your own bathroom, and all because a few jackasses decided to pick on the nerd with a knack for video games and programming. Who may or may not still be in the closet.

You used to have a girlfriend, but things came up and you lost her due to moving away with your lousy excuse of an uncle, only to later figure out she had died in a car accident.

That was 3 years ago, and you still grieve for her. Aradia Megido was a friend from the start, and a friend to the end she was.
