Y/n POV
It's been a little over a seven months since I arrived back in Australia and mom has been sleeping a lot. The stress of dad's condition is hanging on  our shoulders, but she's decided to keep her self inside. The hospital had called a few months ago, telling us dad is currently in a coma and he would be waking up soon, but we just needed to wait for the call from the hospital.

Bring, bring! Bring, bring! The sound of my mother's phone blares through the house. I rushed to answer it, so the intrusive noise wouldn't disturb her must needed rest. Reaching the phone I answered quickly.

"Hello? Who's this?" I question, walking to the living room. The voice on the other side seems hesitant to answer. Breath hitching slightly, they begin to answer.

"Is this Mrs. L/n? I'm a nurse from the hospital your husband is currently situated at." The tone in their voice is depressed and guilty. Confused, I gather up my response.

"No this is her daughter. She's sleeping at the moment. Is something wrong with my dad?" After my question is asked, the nurse continues their speech.

"I'm excited to inform you that your father has woken up. Is it possible for you to be here anytime tonight to speak to a doctor?"

"Oh! Yes of course! We'll be there soon. Thank you!"

The nurse welcomes me and I hang up.

I need to tell mom. I walk over to her room, tiptoeing slightly. I push the door open with a squeak. Sitting down next to her, I shake her, telling her to get up.

"Mom. Mom wake up. A nurse from the hospital called. We have to go see dad."

She stirs and looks up at me slowly.

Hazily she questions, "What happend? Is he alright?"

I nod my head, "A nurse called and said he's awake and we need to speak to dad's doctor."

Her eyes widen a little and she moves to get up. "Well, get your shoes on, let's go to the hospital."

She looks so tired. Maybe if I was home this wouldn't have happened. I walk over to the doorway to put my shoes on, wandering into my thoughts.

Wait.

Chan wanted me to do something.

What was that?

"Y/n! Are you ready?! We should leave now!" Mom calls from the other room.

I jump into my shoes and grab her keys from the wall, "Yeah! Are you?!"

Mom comes from the hallway with fresh clothes on. She nods and puts her shoes on. She smiles at me, but I can see her worries hidden under that smile. I smile back at her an open the door to let her out.

Later, we arrive at the hospital and ask for my father's hospital room. When we get to his door I knock lightly. A soft, "Yes?", echoes from inside the room.

I open the door wide enough for mom the get through and I follow suit. Dad smiles as we enter and we smile back.

"Hi dad! How are you feeling?" As I ask, mom sits down a chair next to his bed.

"My darling daughter, I'm just fine!" He smiles even wider and moves his hand to cover my mom's.

Although he sounds fine, all of the wires littering his body says otherwise. I sit down next to him as well and we talk. Talk about what we've been doing the past months. We laugh as he tells his usual jokes. I missed this. Dad's jokes, mom's smile, and our time together.

The door creaks open to reveal dad's doctor. He walks over to the bed and informs us that we'll be a able to take him home after a few days and fill out some forms. The doctor leaves and we decide to celebrate with some food. I volunteer to go get it, but mom objects, telling me that dad and I should talk more.

I give her the keys and stops at the doorway. "I almost forgot! Here's your phone honey! I'll be back with the food soon."

She throws the phone to dad, but I intercept it. Suddenly I get an idea.

"Dad. Why don't we call grandma, she would want to know you're okay." He smiles wider, if that's possible and I turn on his phone to call grandma.

After a few rings she answers, "Hello? Who is this?"

"Hi grandma! It's Y/n. I just wanted to tell you dad is awake and he wants to talk to you." I answer, turn the phone on speaker, and move the phone so it's closer to his face.

They both seem extremely happy as they talk, as you would expect. Finally, grandma says, "I should come down to visit you all soon. I won't be down for a couple months, but I'll be there if you'll have me."

Dad and I look to each other and nod. "Of course, mom. Come over whenever you want. I love you lots!" Dad exclaims.

We exchange 'love yous', 'goodbyes', and I hang up.

As the phone shuts off, mom reenters the room with food in her hands.

She sits down and we finally eat dinner together for the first time in a very long time.
