I was on the train to Hogwarts. My parents couldn't be here to say goodbye, for they had to work today. I had to take the muggle train to the train station, then board 9 3/4. I was checking my phone. It was my most important possession, although it was a muggle item. I called my ex-boyfriend, wanting to let him know I was on my way to Hogwarts and would be busy for a while. Only a few of my friends knew I was a pure-blood wizard. I was hoping I'd get Slytherin, knowing they could use a caring, friendly wizard as myself. I called him. He answered. "Evelyn? Why are you on a train?," Julian asked, looking at me. I answered, "I'm in my way to Hogwarts." He grumbled something, but I couldn't hear him. "I'll be rather busy for the rest of this year, so if I don't talk to you on a regular basis, I hope you can understand." He nodded and said, " alright. I gotta go. I'll talk to you as soon as you can talk. " With that, he hung up and I got teary eyed. I missed him so much. I always have to push away anyone who cares about me, then I expect to have friends and not be alone.... Pathetic. I felt a few tears roll down my face and with that, I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
I soon woke up, in a bright room, in someone's arms. Her was tall and had a large beard. He set me down and said, "my name's Hagrid. Ya sleep mighty hard. I couldn't wake ya up." I smiled softly as he allowed me to stand on my own and I grumbled , "thanks, Hagrid. Name's Evelyn... Evelyn Oglesby." Hagrid merely chuckled and said, "another Oglesby! You're family has quite a lot of potential in it." I smiled wider and said, "thank you, sir." A talk woman with a green robe and a black long skirt and long sleeved shirt appeared. "The sorting ceremony will begin now. You will all stand and wait for your name to be called, then join your houses table. There are four houses... Gryffindor... Ravenclaw... Hufflepuff... And... Slytherin." We were lead into the dinning area and stood in a large crowd, a stool and hat in front of the teachers table. I looked at the teachers, seeing a man with black, shoulder-length hair, dressed in full black. He wasn't smiling. He wasn't looking up at the students. He kept his eyes on a book he was reading and had nearly black, dark eyes. I zoned out, studying the teacher until I heard my name called. I quickly walked to the stool, the sorting hat being placed on my head. "Another Oglesby! I know just what to do with you... SLYTHERIN!," the sorting hat shouted. I grinned and walked to my houses table, sitting all the way in the back where I could be alone. An old man stood up and said, "let the feast begin." The table magically flipped and food towered the tables. I didn't fill my plate, knowing I normally hardly eat. I didn't have an eating disorder, I just never had a large appetite. Once I finished eating, I looked up and caught the professor I was looking at making eye contact with me.
We had a week to get settled into Hogwarts before beginning classes. Once it was time to start classes, the first day wasn't too bad. We didn't really do anything in any classes, just hearing long introductions from the teachers. I had discovered the teacher that I took notice of my first day was my potions professor, named Snape. He seemed to be cold-hearted and was ruthless. He would get after all the students and got after me a few times. I tried not to take it personal, but I ended up taking it personal... I couldn't help it! I liked professor Snape and wished he would be friendly. Each time Snape got after me, he hesitated as if he didn't mean what he said to me. I decided I hated this professor and never had a liking to him. But that was my first year... My second year was very different.
