Disclaimer: To whom it may concern, this is not an update. However, if you wish to limit future confusion (that is, if you choose to follow this piece), this is recommended for you 😊.

If you have read the first chapter, you are probably very confused. What the asdfghjkl is happening? Why do they have wings??? ????????? ?????????????????????????? Who's Jules? I thought the description said it was Damien and Michael?????? ?????????

I will clarify several plot points for you in this post and try to answer any questions people might have for future reference. If anyone has more questions, please comment and I will answer them after the next update.

1) Why do the characters have wings? It was probably not the most memorable part of the description, but I did mention that this is a wings AU (alternate universe). My interpretation of that would be that it's an alternate version of our world where people have wings; hence, this work. Technically everyone in this AU is a furry, but beyond that I wanted to create a world that is seemingly idealistic but actually flawed in a lot of fundamental ways. Most people think: what's your point? I'd pick an idealistic world where I can fly over this giant trash fire any day! I hope that as I post more Q&A's and continue working on this book, the true nature of this AU will reveal itself to you.

2) How is this world idealistic? In our world, we have established many prejudices and injustices for ourselves. Prejudice against women, prejudice against gender, prejudice against sexual orientation, prejudice against race, prejudice against religion, etc. This results in different people being treated differently by society, by the government, by the justice system, and by literally everything else. Our long-held prejudices are slowly fading, which is definitely a good thing, but we can't deny that they remain serious problems in our world. This alternate world is "idealistic" for the simple reason that none of these prejudices exist. Everyone is treated equally and there is not much disapproval of what you might think would be disapproved of in the time period I'm writing in (19th century England). Also, people can fly. Lucky bonus :). I will explain wing evolution within the story if anyone's curious.

3) What's wrong with this AU? On the surface, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with this place. Except for the fact that one of the protagonists obviously has trauma. And he was told by his friend, Jules, to "take the alleyways home". I'll explain why within the actual chapter updates as well. There is only one glaring injustice in this world, but this injustice has, like all injustices, tipped over into extremism, censorship, and blatant oppression. This injustice and all of the qualities associated with it is the basis for the main conflict.

4) What was the point of the first chapter? The first chapter was just a way for me to open the story and set the scene. Sort of like foreshadowing for the rest of the book. The prologue (Red) actually takes place a few years later than the year in which I will be writing most of the story in (1873). However, this installation will ultimately culminate in 1877 again.

5) This is boring. I'm really sorry you feel that way :(.  This is only my first story on this website, so I'm not expecting to impress anyone or attract a large audience. The prologue was only meant to foreshadow the rest of the story and drive readers to read more. Maybe my tactics don't work very well, and I'm very sorry about that. Please feel free to email or comment feedback. I'm truly thankful for anyone who does or will follow this story, and I always appreciate constructive criticism that will help improve my writing :).

6) You didn't mention a Jules in the description. I didn't mention a lot of the deuteragonists in the description. This is because the plot focuses specifically on the relationship between Michael and Damien and therefore all those associated with them.
