VIOLET'S POV
My fingertips were on the doorknob I was thinking if I should even open the door, well my thoughts have been answered.... BAM! The door busts open! And one guard barges IN! How dare he!"Oh no, you don't! " I yell pushing him outside with all my strength. I managed to get him outside I also go outside and close the door. I turn to two guards and cross my arms glaring at the guard who BARGED in my house!"I told you Richard, we should of waited!" A chunky, red headed, freckled guard, says to the tooth pick, weakling, brown headed Richard guy."Be quiet Bernard!" He yelled at him and kicked him in the shin. Which made the Bernard guy start yelping and jumping around on one leg."Why did you just barge in MY house!" I pointed my finger at Richard while yelling."I need to talk to your parents."He said annoyingly. "First things first, I need you to apologize to me."I stood firm in front of the door."Fine,"He looked annoyed,"Please excuse my, manners!" He said sarcastically, in a high voice. I didn't buy it, but oh well."Now, let me talk to your parents." He took a step forward me."There busy right now, so, you can go now." And I run inside, even though I was right by the door. I made sure I locked it and waited until they left. It took awhile until they left but they did, I sigh in relief.
RICHARD'S POV
I can't believe she had just slammed the freaking door in my face! I thought. I know that boy is in there I know it and I will get him. Even if it means breaking in. I don't know why the mayor wants me and fatso (Bernard) to go and get the boy. This isn't mayors property, so we can't really do anything to the boy. He's technically a free boy, anybody that comes here, past the Bob wired fence is free from the mayor. But the mayor doesn't want anyone to leave, she wants to make everyone's life miserable. If anyone disobeyed the mayor, they will have to pay the price. Which usally means the box, but if you don't then your going to be in BIG trouble. And I can't be one of those people I just cant, I thought to myself. I thought of my wife back home pregnant." I just can't." I whispered.
MAX'S POV
I was hiding in somebody's closet. I'm thinking it was the girls closet because there was a lot of dresses, shirts, pants, and skirts on the ground. I was behind dresses hanging off a bar." BOY! YOU CAN COME OUT NOW! THERE GONE!" The girl yelled to me. I quietly walked out the closet and peeked my head out the door to the living room. She had her arms crossed over her chest and glared at me. I limp out the door and crookedly stood there, staring at the floor." You better start telling me stuff about you! And why I had to lie to those guards, cause I don't like lying!" She looked really angry. I sigh with frustration, confusion not knowing what to do." Ok fine, my name is Max, and I'm twelve years old, I'm running away from people, trying to take me to the box, or to the horrible mayor." I end, looking at her, her hands have dropped, and she was no longer mad but sad.
VIOLET'S POV
After what 'max' just said to me I felt sad for him."What's the box?" I asked confused. I didn't know what the box is, as you can tell, our mayor is a nice mayor, the nicest I know. Max answers me snapping me out of my thoughts." The box is a place where the first child in there family go. To be tortured until they die, then they would make the whole town watch, And nobody has ever escaped the box, until I came along." "That's just horrible!" I exclaimed. " What about your parents? Didn't they do anything?" I ask dying to know about his parents, wondering if they are the nicest parents on the planet! His face tensed when I asked about his parents." No, they didn't do anything, they were actually wanting to give me away." I felt tears in my eyes, this was the WORST thing that could happen to any kid. I mean to have there own parents turn against him. I go to Max, and help him to the couch, finishing his cuts, bruises, and a broken ankle( I'm not really sure it's broken I think it could be the leg that's broken.) I then hear somebody at the door and freeze, Max also freezes. And then I hear the click to our door, and the door slowly begins to open..
