This was harder than I thought. The last time I had dressed up for something that was, I guess "formal" was the Howard Stark memorial service in 2009 and all of his gala's afterwards. I barely dressed up then, I was dressed quite professionally, maybe a formal dress. But, this party tonight, it was going to be a fun formal, I didn't know what to wear, or how to do my hair.
I stood in front of my closet, staring blankly at the array of casual clothes. I glanced back at my clock, the party starts in an hour.
"Natasha!" I shouted, sounding quite desperate.
I heard her heels coming down the hallway and she stood in the doorway, putting in a pair of earrings.
"Yeah?"
"I don't know what to do, or what to wear," I said, looking back at my closet. "I don't want to end up looking like I did when we celebrated the end of the war."
Natasha walked in and stood next to me. "Alright, well let's see what you have here..." She flipped through the clothes that I had hanging up, finding nothing. "Ellie, do you even buy nice clothes?"
"I don't really have a reason, so, no," I replied.
"Alright, come on." Natasha took my hand and led me to her room, sat me down on her bed and began going through her closet. "Aha! Here!" She threw a navy blue dress at me and I held it up.
It was short in length, reaching perhaps to my knees, sort of tight-fitting, and was long sleeved. It was cute, I will admit.
"Go on, try it on!" Nat nodded towards her bathroom and I got up to get changed.
When I walked out Natasha's mouth slightly fell open and she smiled.
"Ooh, Frosty, you look great!"
"I feel like if I bend down, I'll flash my underwear," I said.
"Just don't bend over and sit with your legs closed."
"I can't lounge?"
"No! You must be pristine." Natasha mockingly fluttered her eyelashes while pressing her hands together.
"Thank you for the dress, Nat." I laughed. "Could you do my hair and makeup as well?"
"I thought you'd never ask!" She stood up and lead me back into the bathroom. She sat me down on the toilet lid and opened her sink cabinet, taking out hair brushes, bobby pins, hair ties, and hair spray.
Natasha looked at my hair for a moment before she got to work, teasing my hair in different sections and pulling, and pinning, and tying it all together before spraying my hair. I coughed a bit and waved the particles of chemicals out of the air, wondering was Nat could have possibly done.
"Alright, look in the mirror." Natasha stepped back and I stood up, looking at my reflection.
She had put my hair into a loose braid that fell over my shoulder and the top of my hair had been slightly teased to give volume. I began to laugh.
"I look like Queen Elsa."
In December of last year, a new Disney movie called "Frozen" had come out and Tony insisted that we see it. It involved two sisters, one of them, Elsa, had ice powers and ever since we watched that movie everyone was making some sort of reference to me.
"Do you like it?" Nat asked.
"Yeah, I look great!" I smiled. "You aren't going to give me crazy makeup are you?"
