I think I have a crush on him.

The way he talks about things like they're the most important thing in the world. Also, his jawline can cut just like one of my blades.

"Have you ever had any pets?" He asks me.

"I've had a cat and a couple of fish here and there. The cat's name was Halo, my dad named him. He got hit by a car on my 16th birthday."

"I'm sorry to hear that." He says as he takes his hand and brushes away a stray tear with his calloused thumb. "I had a dog. Her name was Lucky. She died when I was really young though so I don't really remember that much about her."

"That's so cool I've always wanted a dog, but Sage is allergic."

"Maybe when you get out, you could adopt one."

"Adopt don't shop." We both say in unison and laugh quietly. I notice he keeps staring at my lips.

"Why are you doing that?" I ask him with my eyebrow raised.

"Doing what?" He says bringing his eyes back up to mine.

"You keep staring at my lips. It's kind of creepy." I say joking.

"Can I kiss you?" He asks me and I sit there taken aback a little. I quickly lick my lips and respond.

"Yes," I say and move toward him. He leans into me as well and our lips meet. It feels like sparks are running through my whole body. At first, it was a gentle kiss but then he deepens it by placing his hands to the back of my neck, pushing me toward him more. Our lips move in sync with each other like they belong there. He moves us around and pushes me so my back is on the bed. I let out a small huff and we continue to kiss. He places his hands on my scalp and massages my curls gently. I move my hands so they rest on his stomach.

We are interrupted by a loud knock at the door. We break apart quickly and our eyes go wide. I quickly move and shimmy underneath his bed.

She opens the door to the room looking concerned. "Jacob, why is the light on? It's 4 am, you should be asleep."

"I have insomnia and it helps if I meditate you see. I also can't meditate with the light off or else it throws me off. I'm sorry, I'll try and go to sleep now." He lies so easily.

"Okay, Jacob. Thank you for letting me know. I'm going to turn the light off now. Please try and get some rest." The nurse says and closes the door.

We both sigh in relief and I get out from under the bed. "I better go before they notice I'm gone," I say with a smile on my face.

He looks disappointed and nods his head. I lean in and give him one last small peck on his lips before I hurriedly get back to my room. I shut off the lights and jump into bed. I lay there with my fingers on my lips. That was amazing.
