When I hear this word fall from a blissfully ignorant mouth, the urge to trace a pentacle around the speaker and perform an exorcism is overpowering. This word, spoken by two parties in unison, followed closely by bubbly giggles, is near enough to elicit froth at the mouth from me.
Why?
The phrase preys on twin stereotypes, e.g. two people dressed the same, wearing the same hairstyle, or coincidentally having anything in common. This gives it negative connotations. In addition, the word itself is syrupy and airheadedly waifish enough to induce dizziness. It has become a slur among twins.
Avoid the "t" word at all costs.
