Chapter Thirteen

Veronica's POV

  "What was that all about?" I asked looking at my mom.
  "I was just seeing if they were gonna come over for dinner tonight." She explained.
"I thought it was just gonna be us." I said looking up at her.
"It will be. There's just gonna be a few extra people." She explains.
I looked up and nodded at her comment. While we go to the back room to have lunch, I smelled food coming from the lunch area and just ran.
  "She must be really hungry." I hear Sofia say.
  "She looks like she hasn't eaten anything in her life." My mom says laughing.
  After I get to the lunch area, all my aunts and grandma are in there trying to finish setting up.
  "Hey, I thought you guys were coming in at 1." Aunt Mary says.
  "It's 1:15." My mom said while looking at her phone.
  "Why are you setting up all these decorations if there's only the eight of is having lunch?" I asked.
  "We wanted to make it special since your leaving tomorrow." Aunt Lisa explained.
  "Besides, we might not get to do this again." Grandma says.
  "Oh yes it is. We are definitely doing this again." I said walking over to her and hugging her.
  As soon as I said that, she looked up and smiled. We all then started getting our food and eating. We also started talking about them all coming to England or going to Ireland so everyone could meet my birth parents.
  "Hey Lisa, can you come here for a minute?" My dad says popping his head inside.
  "Yeah sure." My mum says before going to the kitchen.

Buddy's POV

  "Is everything ok?" Lisa asks following me to the office.
  "Kinda. I just got off with the phone with moms nurse. They said she's doing a little better, but she's still getting weak. They want her to go to Florida to get more treatment." I explained.
"That's great. But what's the matter?" She asks.
"They don't know if this round of treatment will slow down the process or not."
"Well, I have a good feeling it'll help Mary and she'll feel better and will feel more energetic then she is now."
"Hey mom, Sofia wants to know when you want to go get your nails done." Veronica says knocking on the door.
"I'll be out in a minute. Does everyone else want to come?" Lisa asks.
"My sisters still have to work. Why not take mom with you?" I asked.
"That sounds like a good idea. I'll go ask." Veronica said walking away.
"You don't think she heard us do you?" Lisa asks.
"I doubt it. The door was closed." I said before kissing her cheek.
"I hope your right. I don't think she can take any bad news right now." She says.

Veronica's POV

"What do you think that's all about?" Aunt Mary asks.
"It's probably about the new Bakery that he's wanting to open." Grandma says before going back to her food.
"Veronica, when are we gonna go get our nails done?" Sofia asks whispering to me.
"Probably after we're done eating lunch. Why do you ask?"
"Because I want to go now." She says.
"What are you two whispering about?" Aunt Grace asks.
"We're talking about her birthday and what she wanted." I said.
"Her birthday isn't for another ten months." Aunt Maddalena said looking suspicious.
"I know that, but with the amount of touring that I'll be doing, I need to have some good ideas for when I come back to give her presents." I explained.
"Hey Veronica, can you go see when your moms gonna come back?" Gran asks.
"Yeah sure. I'll be right back." I said before going to look for my mum.
"Hey trouble, what are you doing back at the bakery?" Ralph asks looking up from his sculpture.
"I'm looking for my mum and dad. What are you making?" I asked.
"I'm making a Maleficent sculpture for a Disney cake a client wants." He said while showing it to me.
"Hey Veronica, were you looking for you mom and Buddy?" Uncle Joey asks.
"Yeah, but I seen the sculpture that Ralph was working on and I was really interested." I explained.
"Oh ok. They're in the office." He said before walking away.
When I got to my dads office, I seen that they were having an intense conversation. I tried to listen but I couldn't hear.
"Hey mom, Sofia wants to know when you want to go get your nails done." I said after knocking on the door.
"I'll be out in a minute. Does everyone else want to come?" Mum asks.
"My sisters still have to work. Why not take mom with you?" Dad asked.
"That sounds like a good idea. I'll go ask." I said before walking away.
Once I got back to where everyone was, I seen that all my aunts were gone, but my gran, and Sofia were still there.
"Hey Gran, I have a question for you." I said once I sit down.
"What would that be?" She asks.
"Would you want to come get your nails done with Sofia, mom and I?" I ask.
"Your aunts aren't gonna be there are they?" She asks.
"No, daddy said they still have work that needs to get done. It'll just be the four of us." I said.
"Than I'd love to come with you girl." She said smiling.
"Ok, are you guys ready to go?" Mum asks coming in.
"Yeah, we're ready." Sofia says running out of the kitchen.
I looked over at my mom and just laughed and pushed my grandmas wheelchair towards the car.
