𝚜𝚊𝚝𝚞𝚛𝚍𝚊𝚢, 𝚊𝚙𝚛𝚒𝚕 𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚛𝚍, 𝚝𝚠𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚢 𝚝𝚠𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚢-𝚘𝚗𝚎I took a long glug of the cold beverage in my hand, coffee. "It's too early to be alive right now," I grumbled to Daphne who laid on the floor next to my feet practically asleep. She hummed a response I couldn't make sense of, but I didn't care to try. Because all I could think about was the fact that Zach, Ryan, Aiden, and dad were all still happily snoozing, lucky bitches.
"Shh," Daphne shushed me, holding up her hand, though I didn't even say anything.
I closed my eyes for a second, "I'm just resting my eyes for a moment," I reassured no one in particular. I felt my body start to go limp and I shot up straight, "Okay Daphne, that allnighter might not have been the best idea."
She opened her eyes for a split second to do an eye roll, "We're slacking off Annalise, getting old. We needed rejuvenation!" She said dramatically.
I snorted, "Daphne!" I groaned, "This was the exact opposite of rejuvenation," I mumbled before taking another sip of my precious bean juice. I looked longingly at my favorite frog mug before changing the subject. "Do you think if I washed my face with coffee it would seep in my skin and wake up my brain?"
"Absolutely not." I looked up to see Zach walking into the kitchen, bedhead on display.
I frowned, "You think?" I had to make myself look away from him and back at my mug. How is it that all he has to do is roll out of bed and he looks exactly like a model; whereas I roll out of bed and look like I've just rolled through Shrek's swamp?
He chuckled at my reaction, "Want to share?" I sighed and handed him the frog mug. He was about to say something when his phone dinged, "God it's too early, who is possibly texting me?" He asks in disbelief. I heard the sound as he unlocked his phone and looked at it.
We both see the name on the phone and reply in unison, "Claire." I bite my lip, feeling slightly jealous. "Why is she texting you?"
He shrugs, glancing over at me. "I have no idea. I told her to stop calling me and to delete my number months ago," he types into his phone exactly what he said.
Not even a moment later there's a reply, "You didn't say no texting," Zach read aloud before rolling his eyes. "Typical Claire to find a loophole, I'm just going to block her." Zach goes into his contacts before blocking her number. "Problem solved." He smiles triumphantly.
I stifle a laugh, "You know she's going to be positively livid, right?"
He nods, setting his phone on the counter. "I don't give two fucks about Claire. She only asked for my number to try and get in my pants." I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. It's no mystery why Claire Cafferty, the raging queen of mean would go for Zach. He's the most popular guy in our grade- not that it matters, captain of the football team, kind, funny, and hot as fuck.
Not that I'd ever tell him that.
I reach back out for the coffee cup between Zach's fingers, I need it right now more than I need air. "She does that to everyone, ask Ryan."
Ryan actually did sleep with Claire freshman year, he lost his virginity to her and it's kind of a touchy subject, though I'm sure he'd warn Zach and tell the story if he asked. It's just another example of why if you see Claire, you should run- far, far away.
Zach laughed at my behavior before handing my frog mug back and going to the cupboard to get one of his own. He pulled out another one of my animal mugs, the monkey this time. He turned to me, "Annalise, what is up with these mugs?"
