News of a of a newly arriving face at the BAU spread like a wildfire. Along with it spread rumors. While this new face was speaking to Aaron Hotchner, the boss of the branch, these rumors were shared.
"I heard she's stone cold!" Derek Morgan exclaimed as he handed his co workers coffees. Sitting in a sort-of-circle was the more younger members of the BAU, including Jennifer Jereau, Spencer Reid, Penelope Garcia, and Elle Greenaway. Taking the coffee, Garcia snorted a laugh.
"Yeah right! Someone told me she's a total klutz!" Reid gave one of his perplexed looks where he squints his eyes and purses his lips, warning the rest of the people around him that he was about to go on some brainy rant.
"Really? I can't agree. If she's going to work here, she must be smart, either that or strong. Maybe just educated in something specifically. I sure hope she's smart, but not smart enough to the point where she makes fun of me, because I don't think I'm.... up for....that." He slowly backed off as everyone stared at him, taking a sip of his coffee awkwardly.
"She's a genius, from what I hear." J.J. piped up, making Morgan laugh.
"Could it be? Competition for Reid?" He sat down on Reid's desk, earning a dirty look from him. Elle laughed.
"I don't think we would be able to handle two Reid's." She joked, Garcia letting out a scoff.
"Maybe we should just wait until we meet her." Reid suggested.
"Oh, but what's the fun in that?" Elle smiled. The five people continued to talk and joke about the new worker until the door opened to their boss' office, all of them falling silent. The first person who exited the office was Aaron Hotchner.
"May I have all of your attention. Please welcome Joey Starling to the BAU. She received her doctors in Psychology, and will make a valuable member to our team." Out from the office emerged a young woman, around the younger age compared to the rest of the BAU. She had medium length blonde hair and a friendly face with soft brown eyes. She cradled a bunch of files in one arm, the other arm holding a paper bag. She wore a black pleated skirt with a white blouse, immediately setting her apart from the rest of the women in the BAU, who wore pencil skirts or pants.
"Hello. As you already know, my name is Joey Starling. I graduated at Clark University. I've heard a lot about this specific branch, and I'm very excited to work here with you all." She smiled widely, proving that none of her words were lies.
"As of now we have no cases, so why don't you go and make yourself comfortable around here. Your desk is across from Dr. Reid's, over there." Hotch instructed, to which Joey nodded in agreement.
"Thank you, Hotch." She said, walking over to where he had pointed and placing her files down on the table, smiling at everyone. She shook Elle's hand, who was standing right next to her.
"I'm Elle Greenaway, it's a pleasure to be working with you." She smiled. Joey replies with the same amount of enthusiasm.
                              "Likewise."
"I'm Derek Morgan. Call me either." He winked, shaking Joey's hand. She giggled lightly.
"Cool. You can all call me Jo, by the way." She said, the people in the room nodding or agreeing verbally. A nervous looking boy, who seemed younger than the rest, approached Joey next, clearing his throat and straightening his tie.
"Dr. Spencer Reid. Please, call me Reid. Or...Spencer...or even Spence, if that's what...whichever you'd like.." He looked away, awkwardly shaking Jo's hand, who smiled brightly at him, a lightbulb going off in her head.
"Oh, hey! I know about you! Super genius, right?" She said playfully. Reid cleared his throat yet again.
"Though I don't think intelligence can be quantified accurately, I do...have an IQ of 187...and an Eidetic memory...and I..can read 20,000 words per minute..." he muttered. Joey's eyes widened.
"That's so impressive!" She gushed. He laughed sheepishly and muttered a thanks while blushing, earning him a knowing look from Morgan. Garcia made her way over, giving Jo a soft hug which she gladly returned.
"I'm Penelope Garcia. Everybody just calls me Garcia. I work with the techy stuff up there." She pointed out a computer room.
                              "That's badass." Jo said.
"I know." Garcia winked. J.J. Introduced herself last, shaking Joey's hand with a friendly smile.
"I'm Jennifer Jereau. You can call me J.J." Joey smiled back at her, already knowing they'd become good friends.
"It's great to meet you, J.J."
"Ditto." Joey took another look around the office, admiring everything she could before remembering about what she had brought in.
"Oh! I brought you guys some cookies I made, I hope you don't mind." She said sheepishly, picking up the brown bag she had brought and opening it. Garcia rushed over.
"Okay, I'm gonna just marry you right now." She joked, taking a couple of cookies out and making Joey laugh. The rest of the group politely dug in as well, smiling or humming at the taste of the cookies, making Joey practically glow with pride. Morgan came around, gently patting her on the back.
"Well, Jo. Welcome to the BAU."
