This is something that has annoyed me ever since I started reading stories on Wattpad, the use of time skip. it's just really unnecessary to put in a story because if you make the transition between sections/chapters good enough, the reader will understand that the story skipped ahead of time. If you still don't understand what I mean, let me give you an example:
Elisabeth fell on her bed, the day had been exhausting due to the all-nighter she had pulled the previous night, but at least she had managed to finish her homework in time. She was only going to take a short nap before heading out to meet her friends. her eyelids felt heavier, and she was soon asleep.
(time skip to 18.30)
The cinema was crowded with people and the move was about to begin, Elisabeth sipped on her drink and waited for everyone around her to calm down.
And now the better version:
Elisabeth fell on her bed, the day had been exhausting due to the all-nighter she had pulled the previous night, but at least she had managed to finish her homework in time. She was only going to take a short nap before heading out to meet her friends. her eyelids felt heavier, and she was soon asleep.
The time was 18:30 and the cinema were crowded with people now that the move was about to begin, Elisabeth sipped on her drink and waited for everyone around her to calm down.
