A Guy That I'd Kinda Be Into (Spoiler, it's not Jeremy)

(CHRISTINE at play rehearsal. CHLOE approaches, flanked by BROOKE. JENNA ROLAN sits nearby.)

CHLOE (SPOKEN)
Is this seat saved?

CHRISTINE (SPOKEN)
Oh, yeah-

(CHLOE sits down anyway.)

"Sassy, much?" Jake joked.

CHLOE (SPOKEN)
Jenna Rolan said she saw you at the mall with Jake last night.

CHRISTINE (SPOKEN)
Yeah, that's...who it's saved for...

BROOKE (SPOKEN)
Jenna Rolan?

JENNA (SPOKEN)
I'm right here.

Jenna frowned. She hated how she was always ignored and overlooked. People would only use her for gossip, and once they got it, they would toss her to the curb. Christine noticed her frown and hugged her tightly.

"Thank you," Jenna whispered with a small smile.

CHLOE (SPOKEN)
Jake's not coming.

CHRISTINE (SPOKEN)
Is he sick?

"Yeah, of Chloe," Rich mumbled.

Like the hawk she is, Chloe's head snapped in Rich's direction. She glared at him. "I heard that."

"Heard what?" Rich asked, smiling sweetly.

Chloe rolled her eyes and leaned against Brooke.

CHLOE (SPOKEN)
He's at Model U.N. Or whatever it is this week. You know Jake. Always jumping from one...extracurricular to another.

Jake groaned. "Why?" He could see where this conversation was going, and he didn't like it.

CHRISTINE (SPOKEN)
I don't know him that well...

CHLOE (SPOKEN)
Well, he loves to try new things. He just doesn't always stay with them after he...tries them.

"Chloe, what the hell?" Jake asked. "Look, I know you were jealous, but what the hell?"

With a shake of her head, Chloe sighed. "I honestly have no idea." She had no idea what she was thinking at the time. It seemed like a great idea in the spur of the moment, but looking back on it, she was acting like a huge idiot.

CHRISTINE (SPOKEN)
We're just friends.

CHLOE (SPOKEN)
What?

CHRISTINE (SPOKEN)
I know you guys used to date? So, if that's what this is about...

CHLOE (SPOKEN)
Oh my God no! Jake and I are totally over!

BROOKE (SPOKEN)
Yeah, he's so gross.

"Wow!" Jake scoffed. "Thanks!"

Brooke smiled sheepishly. "Sorry."

CHLOE (SPOKEN)
He's not gross, Brooke! (Beat) Friends. I'm so glad. Because, real talk, I would hate for you to think that the reason Jake's not here...is he's already bored of you. (Beat) Bye!

Chloe frowned. "I'm really sorry, Christine. That was really bitchy of me."

"Eh, it's fine," Christine shrugged.
