He nodded, looking relieved. I wonder what that was about . . .

But I couldn’t wonder much more since the food came out then. It was two cheeseburgers, a plate of fries, and two Dr. Peppers. Dallas smiled at us as he set the food down. We smiled back and turned to the food.

After we were done eating, Spencer looked at my plate and laughed.

“What?” I asked, glancing down at my empty plate.

“I have never seen a girl as pretty as you pack food away like that,” he said, chuckling.

I pretended to glare at him, knowing that he didn’t mean it in a bad way. It was a lot of food, and most girls never ate more than half of their plate. But that didn’t mean that I couldn’t mess with him. “What’s that supposed to mean?” I asked, making my voice as offended as I could while trying to hold back laughs.

"N-Nothing,” he stuttered. His eyes got huge as he stared me, trying to backtrack. “I-I just m-m-meant t-that . . .”

I stopped him there by laughing. I saw the look of relief flash across his face before he was smiling again. God, my wolf wasn’t shutting up.

Let him take us, please?

No! That would be gross on the first date!

There’s a bathroom around the corner! Let him take us!

NO! Now shut up.

After my little battle with my wolf, he seemed to be having his own. I watched his face as it went from lust to confusion to surprise to firm and then to calm.

I smiled a little as his eyes focused back on me. “Ready to see the rest of this place?” he asked.

“Sure,” I said. We got up and Spencer paid the bill. After we left, we decided to walk around since we were in the middle of town. After we finished the tour, we went to an old movie theater and caught a movie. Much to my surprise, the theater was empty. And then I remembered that it was Tuesday. All of the kids and teenagers were at school.

What surprised me even more, though, was when Spencer put his arm around me. I didn’t complain though. Instead, I settled into the crook of his arm and leaned my head against his shoulder. He wasn’t complaining either.

After the movie, we went into the lobby of the theater. I had to pee, so I asked Spencer to wait outside for me. He agreed, reluctantly, might I add.

Ater I was done, I washed my hands and dried them on a paper towel. I walked out of the bathroom to find a group of seven guys standing there. They took one look at me and most of them whistled while two winked.

I rolled my eyes. Here was the bad part. They were standing in front of the only way out. And the guy at the candy counter wasn’t helping by checking me out.

“Who’s this pretty little thing?” one of the guys asked.

With my sensitive hearing, I heard another guy who was most likely the leader say, “I don’t know, but ten bucks says that I’ll have her in my bed by the end of this week.”

God, I felt disgusted. They were placing a bet on me. That’s was absolutely repulsive.

But I kept my emotions in check when the “leader” came over to where I was standing.

“Hey, there, sweetheart,” he started. I had to bite my tongue so that I wouldn’t cause a scene. “I’m Brian, center for the basketball team.”

When I made no move to introduce myself or squeal over the fact that he was on the basketball team, he frowned. “What’s your name?” he tried.
