I took my seat in first class, stretching out and yawning. The training camp was all the way in California. And I planned on sleeping the entire way there.
But my thoughts were abruptly cut off when I heard a male voice say, “Excuse me, ma’am.”
My eyes snapped open as I looked at the guy in front of me. He was around twelve years old with blonde hair and blue eyes.
“Yeah,” I answered the kid. I looked at him, totally confused. I could sense that he was a werewolf, but he hadn’t shifted yet. He was close, though.
He looked up and down the aisle as if he were about to tell me some big secret.
“Are you going to the training camp?” he asked quietly.
He almost made me laugh. Because he was close to shifting, his senses were starting to kick in. Apparently, his sense of smell hadn’t come yet, for that is how we tell if someone is human or not. And the entire plane was filled with werewolves.
“Yes, I am,” I stated.
“Well,” he said, still whispering. “Good luck. I hear that they don’t get many females, so be careful. I could get my older brother Logan to look out for you, though.”
I actually chuckled a little bit. He was so adorable, caring about me. How is it that a complete stranger cares more about me than my mate?
Nope. Not going down that train of thoughts. I smiled at the young boy and said, “I would appreciate that. What’s your name?”
“Levi,” he said, reaching out his hand.
“I’m Jasmine,” I said, shaking his hand once before letting go. “Why are you flying there alone?”
“My Alphas heard that a really powerful wolf would be on this flight, so they sent me early. I wonder who it is,” he pondered.
I nodded my head. I accidentally let out a yawn. Levi saw me and quickly said, “If you want to sleep, go ahead. I won’t bother you.”
I nodded and stretched across my seat before closing my eyes and drifting off to a half conscious half unconscious state.
I was shaken awake by Levi muttering, “Jasmine. Jasmine, you need to wake up.”
I opened one eye to see Levi smirking down at me. I looked around us to see that there was no one the plane. “Where . . . ?”
"I’ve been trying to wake you up for the last ten minutes,” he said jokingly.
I rolled my eyes and stood up, grabbing my duffel bag, which, luckily for me, had been tagged as a carry-on bag. I followed Levi out of the plane and into the airport.
“My brother said that he’d be picking here,” Levi muttered. “I called him and asked if he could take you too, since we’re going to the same place.”
“Thanks,” I told him honestly. “I don’t even know where it is.”
He laughed quietly. “Oh, trust me, you can’t miss it.” I rolled my eyes and noticed a Starbucks a few yards away. I led Levi over to it and we sat down after getting a coffee and hot chocolate.
As we waited for Logan, Levi told me about himself and his family. His mother and father had died of a rare form of werewolf cancer called terribilis languorem. It actually means terrible sickness in Latin, but, eh, it works.
Levi said that Logan’s mate had rejected him for an unknown reason. As I opened my mouth to tell him a little about myself, a male’s voice rang out, “Levi!”
