seri had been out with chan and jeongin all day, trying on clothes, eating, walking around -- anything. it was just a casual day in the midst of a busy schedule for the boys, and unfortunately it was their last.
they begin promotions tomorrow, so there'd be no time for running around to every ice cream place for free samples (jeongin's idea).
and surely there'd be no room for searching every boba cafe for the coveted okinawa milk tea (seri's idea).
but the chance to hurry along two child-brained adults is always there (chan's responsibility).
though, chan doesn't mind it at all. it was nice getting to see seri smile and laugh freely with the other members. he was worried that she wouldn't be able to relate to them since they're younger than her, but then he remembered that if minho can do it, then so can she. and boy, did she.
her and jeongin hit it off immediately, always feeding off each other's energies, always making weird noises and referencing inside jokes only they had, and always messing with others as if they're two little devils on each other's shoulders. chan hadn't seen that side of her before, so it almost made him a little jealous. the side of seri that he knew was playful but serious, nothing like the side with jeongin. and now that it's the three of them spending a day out together, chan wonders which side of his girlfriend is the most true... does she feel more comfortable with jeongin that she can open up to him like that?
"oppa," seri looks up at him, tugging on his wrist, "jeonginnie wants to stop for food. what do you want to eat?"
chan looks between the two, not really sure how to answer. "i'm fine with anything, really."
seri is about to speak when jeongin triumphantly beats her to it. "pastries it is!"
chan only shrugs it off, smiling at his enthusiasm. seeing this, seri smiles too. she was a little worried that chan wouldn't get to do anything he wanted today, especially since she feels like she's dragging him around, but he didn't seem bothered.
or so she thought.
the three of them sit down in the outside section of a cafe, preferring to take in the sunshine and beautiful weather as much as possible. just as chan is getting lost in his thoughts while seri and chan gush to each other about some other random topic, she puts a bottle of water in front of him that she pulled from her bag.
"thanks, ba...be"
at the same time, he watches her unscrew another bottle and hand it to jeongin. how come she didn't do the same for him?
with his mouth agape, chan sits back in his chair, looking away from the two of them and off at the people passing on the sidewalk. he totally doesn't care. chan crosses one leg over the other, accidentally bumping the table and knocking his water bottle over. frantically, he stands it back upright, trying to keep his cool and continue to look away from them in silence. he rests his elbow on the arm rest, his fingers against his mouth to hide his scowl that's probably forming.
jeongin and seri both notice, though, and share a humored glance. still, jeongin beats her to it and offers his water to his hyung.
"No, no," chan shoos it away, not looking at jeongin still, "yours is better."
at this, seri almost bursts into laughter, easily picking up at what's going on here. she finds it too adorable to scold him for, and instead reaches across the table to unscrew his water bottle as well.
all the while, chan only spares her a short glance, hoping she doesn't notice how the creases in his face flatten out and corners of his mouth twitch as he relaxes a bit at the sight. and luckily, she doesn't. but she does notice when he eagerly picks the bottle back up and brings it to his mouth, the lid still on. she snickers, but he's unfazed. instead, he twists the cap off the rest of the way and takes a big gulp with an even bigger smile, flashing jeongin a smug look. like a baby that got the toy it was crying for, chan appeared to be the happiest man on earth at the small gesture.
"pfft, you're such a dork," seri tells him, going to twist the cap off of her own water bottle. chan takes it away from her before she can blink, doing it for her instead with that dumb, happy smile of his.
"but i'm your dork, right?"
jeongin snickers to himself enjoying at how seri cringes at her boyfriend but shyly mumbles an agreement nonetheless.
