"and you're sure it was her?"
"do i look dumb to you"
"don't answer that."
felix sighs, his anxiety eating him up. she was supposed to be dead. how the hell was she at his house again as if everything was normal? as if she didn't have a freak attack? how is he supposed to continue living if she's alive and out to get him?
he had her killed for a reason, but he didn't think it would go like this.
"tell me, has she left my house on 6th?" he runs a hand down his distressed face. he glances at the gps map displayed on the dashboard of the autodrive smart car, seeing that they're almost at their destination.
"no, sir," his bodyguard answers. "she currently has started a video series on shadowtube about her cooking..."
"what?" did he hear that right?
"she has a cooking channel." the bodyguard pulls up said channel on his tablet, showing it to his boss.
and he was right. there she was — wearing an apron he bought her as she uses the largest kitchen knife he owns to cook his favorite meal. yet he doesn't remember it calling for tomato pa-
oh.
that's not tomato paste.
"hi everyone," she says cheerily, that sickly sweet smile on her face that he and everyone else fell for. "welcome back to my channel and thanks for tuning in! today we're cooking beef stroganoff for my husband. felix, if you're out there sweetie, i love you and i'll see you soon."
she slams the knife onto the slab of beef, making an extremely clean cut.
"now, if my assistant will please bring the noodles to a- oh, right." she begins laughing as if she remembered the funniest joke. it's a laugh felix used to associate with good feelings but now it makes him sick.
"i just remembered she's dead. oops! anyway, i'll boil them."
felix closes out of the video, anxious and disgusted.
"you don't think she'll find us here, do you?" he asks his bodyguard, looking out the window as the range rover pulls into the driveway of his safe house.
"not a chance. we're miles away from the city. no one lives out here nor knows about it."
felix nods, letting himself be assured by those words as he gets out of the car. the bodyguard goes through the house first, ensuring his boss' safety. felix almost worries when he doesn't come out, but then he gets a call from the bodyguard himself.
"hello?"
"ok, just wanted to make sure cell service worked. it's safe to come in now."
felix sighs, relief washing over him. he walks into the familiar safe house, pouring himself a glass of water. as he's sipping, he sees something even more familiar resting on the counter.
except this time relief isnt what he feels.
the little note with "♡ welcome home baby, ily ♡" written in pink sitting next to a plate of beef stroganoff was the last thing he saw when there was a prick on the side of his neck.
he had her killed for a reason, but he didn't think it would end like this.
