"you're a fucking cunt" a girls voice shouted. "i didn't think you'd find out, i didn't want our friendship to end like this" josh said quietly. the room was spinning and everything seemed to come to that point in this time. it was like a book, or a movie. "you were the one who didn't tell me, you broke up with me for no reason, then to leave me for some highschool drop out who doesn't even understand half the shit you've been through" the girl shouted louder. george was stuck in the same position the whole hour they'd been fighting, all he could do was stay there and listen. "he's not what you think he is nina, he's amazing" josh said in the same tone, he tried to keep quiet the whole time, as it was 10 am. "there's a lot of things that are amazing and he isn't one of them, if you were gonna do this to me you should've done it sooner, fuck you" the girl said before two seconds of silence and a door slam. it was only 10:18 am and the day had already been ruined.

josh had planned out the day to be good, he had a surprise for george and wanted everything to fall in place, but when one of his best friends, which also happened to be his ex girlfriend nina showed up, josh lost hope. the fight lasted for a good hour with one break of silence when the neighbors told them to keep it down.

george finally got the courage to roll out of bed, he slowly walked out of the room. "josh is everything okay?" george said. "yeah everything's fine" josh turned around to look at george, he smiled. "you don't look like everything's okay" george said walking over to the taller boy, wrapping his arms around the blondes neck. "just, things happen" josh said with a sigh. he kissed the shorter ones forehead and smiled. "just glad i get the day with you" josh said running his hand through the brunettes short and messy hair. "what are we gonna do? didn't you say you had something planned?" george said looking up at the blonde. "don't worry about it" josh said with a smile.

the boys got ready and headed out. the day was set and planned. they started at a near by diner, one of george's favorite. "so are you still not gonna tell me what you've got planned?" george said as they waited for their food. "well that ruins it" josh said with a smile.

next destination was the peer. george has loved the peer, the sound of the ocean and the random music playing from the small shops surrounding the old white wooden boardwalk. the light breeze and smell of ice cream mixed with popcorn and fresh flowers. george had felt happiest here. "can we go to the arcade first? ya know the other teddy i have is kinda lonely" george said with a tiny giggle. "stop being cute this ain't fair" josh said pushing open the tiny glass door to the arcade. george ran straight to the little machine that held most of the teddy bears. josh was amazing at these, almost as good as he was a fortnite. "which one?" josh said grabbing the arcade coins he had still from his wallet. "the purple one" george said in excitement. "okay calm down you look like a dog" josh said putting the coins into the machine, the lights lit up and the music started playing, clocking in 59 seconds. josh grabbed it on first try. the tiny bear fell into the little box. "ugh you're fucking amazing at these things" george said grabbing the bear from the box. "years of practice, break was fun in secondary" josh said shrugging his shoulders, almost in a cocky way. george laughed.

the time was 3:47pm. they'd been carried away playing arcade games for three hours, it was fun, george hadnt had such a good time in a while. but josh's mind was still stuck on what happened in the morning. he didn't wanna lose his best friend. but nina didn't understand like all his other friends did, mainly because she was his ex. a breeze started to pick up outside. "josh we should probably go, sounds like it's gonna storm" george said looking up at the taller one. "yeah, but there's something that we need to do first" josh said taking the smaller ones hand, leading him to an ice cream parlor. so far they'd had their first date over again, that was josh's plan. "one strawberry cheesecake and a chocolate chip." josh said. "coming up" the lady behind the counter said with a smile. "what are you planning joshua, i know it's something" george said as josh walked back with their ice cream. "you want the surprise ruined?" josh said handing george his ice cream. "no but, cmon" george whined. "you'll find out soon enough cupcake okay?" josh said smiling. josh had given george the nickname cupcake. their second date george had gotten a thing of cupcakes from a near by grocery store, and surprised josh with them. josh wasn't one to like cupcakes, or cake in general, so he watched george eat the whole thing by himself, and down it with a bottle of liquor. fun night. "ugh fine" george said eating his ice cream.

the night had wined down. they went back to josh's apartment like the first date. josh unlocked the door, one dim light was one, pointing at a tiny note left. "what's this?" george said walked over to it. the note read.

"almost a year of knowing each other and i could've never asked for a better year. you're absolutely the best person to come into my life and i would never ask for more, you put up with my bullshit and you're always there for me. even if our relationship is out to the fans now, it didn't change how much i loved you, i wanna stay with you as long as i can."

"josh what is th-" george turned around. "this is kinda spur of the moment and all but-" josh said pulling out a golden ring from his pocket. "i wanted to get us promise rings. ya know, the whole until we're ready to get married and stuff" josh said with a smile. george stood there silently. looking at the ring in josh's hand to josh's eyes. the brunettes eyes welled with tears, happy one. "so is it a yes to this unofficial engagement?" josh said looking at the smaller one. "yes, holy fuck yes" george said with a big smile. the taller one put the ring on the brunettes ring finger. they kissed under the dim light. like a movie.
