Henry and Jane were in the middle of a breakfast when a young male came in with news for the plain woman. "My lady, a letter from Lord Seymour has arrived for you. Would you like me to read it for you?" He announced, bowing deeply.
"Please do. I would do it myself had I not been at a meal. I desire to open it for my brother does not write regularly." She smiled kindly, placing her cutlery down gently and wiping her hands with a napkin. Henry, too, turned his attention to the young man. He had been very interested in Edward Seymour's activities, recently.
The boy started to read. "Master Seymour says...It is with great pleasure, dear sister Jane, that I inform you of my beginning an official courtship with Lady Anne Boleyn. We have spent a great many days alone together and she has kept me great company. Not once did she attempt to take me to bed or act as the Chief Minister Cromwell claimed she did. Not once did I feel as if the Lady had bewitched me, for the only thing she did was to capture my heart. The woman has honour, pride and respect for herself, something she would never ruin over any secret affairs with male lover's behind His Majesty's back. Her reputation is a matter that she would taint not. Lady Anne and I shall be in attendance at yours and King Henry's wedding together. Dear sister, Lady Anne and I send our best wishes and blessings. Long live the King and Queen of Great England."
Jane did not allow herself a smile, although she was indeed very happy for her brother. One look at Henry had scared her out of showing any emotions. The King was seething. His rage was evident in the way he slammed his ringed fist down onto the great table. "You may take your leave, boy." He snapped at the mail carrier.
The kid obliged and scurried off, grateful to still be with his head.
Jane Seymour knew it was best she keep her mouth shut about his evident anger at her brother and Anne, the woman whom she still layed loyal to. As she had grown to know Henry well, it was only a matter of time before he did something to spite the newly found lovers. The royal man snapped his fingers. "Summon Cromwell to me this instant. Ask of him parchment and a quill for he has a letter to write!" He roared. One of his guards rushed out the room.
"Please, my King. Calm and let us enjoy our meal." Jane told him, gently resting her hand on his arm.
