Katsuki had always needed glasses growing up, he had inherited his father's shitty vision. Once he hit middle school he switched to contacts, thinking glasses made him look less intimidating.

He had no idea that’d affect finding his soulmate.

He had grown used to the blacks and greys of his world, used to how monotone everything always looked. Not having a soulmate didn't affect his becoming a hero, so he didn't necessarily care.

Others in the class looked at couples like Deku and that idiot IcyHot and swooned or whined about wanting one of their own. He had thought they were all idiots.

Until Kirishima turned out to be one of those idiots.

He was walking into the gym, about to start his daily training regime, when he heard the redhead's voice from the open door.

“I'd love to have a soulmate, more than anything really. I figured it would happen at UA, but nothing yet.” A sad chuckle followed, “I doubt they'd want me anyway.”

Katsuki froze when he heard this. His thoughts came and left in a rapid succession that left him dizzy. He left without training and went back to his dorm.

That night he fell asleep with two things on his mind.

Kirishima hasn't met his soulmate?

He thinks his soulmate wouldn't want him?

It was a week later, and Katsuki had run out of contacts and patience.

He was keeping his eyes down to the ground, avoiding what he knew were shocked and pitying gazes. His glasses were like bricks on his face, heavy and noticeable, and he hated that he needed them to function as a normal fucking human being.

He had gotten through most of the day without decking anyone, but the members of the “Bakusquad” liked to walk to the dorms together, so there was a high chance he might snap within the hour.

But as he walked out the door it was only Kirishima's chattering that greeted him. He glanced around on the floor and only saw the god-awful crocs of the shark-toothed boy, weird.

“Where are the rest of the fuckers that usually follow us?”

“Oh! You weren’t looking like you'd be up to having everyone walk with us today so I told them to go on ahead without us,” Kirishima chirped happily.

And so it was only them on the walk back this time, and because of this Katsuki found himself immensely calmer by the time they reached their dorms. So calm, in fact, that he didn't hesitate before looking over at his friend with a small smile.

“Hey, Kirishima.”

But anything he was going to say died in his throat when they locked eyes.

Color bled into view from Kirishima's eyes outwards and Katsuki found himself hitching his breath as he was surrounded in reds and blues and greens. Kirishima, meanwhile, gasped at stumbled back, trying to look everywhere at once before locking eyes with Katsuki once again.

“But… how?” Kirishima looked at him with wide, awe-filled eyes.

Katsuki grabbed him and dragged him into his dorm. He closed the door and leaned back against it, shaking his head.

“I… don't know,” he sighed, running a hand through his hair, “I don't understand.”

Kirishima began pacing in front of him, “Was there anything different about today?” He stopped and spun around, wide-eyed, “The glasses, why have you been wearing those glasses?”

Katsuki blinked in surprise, “I need them to see? I usually wear contacts but a I ran out and the goddamn shipping company fucked up my order so I had to wear these.”

Kirishima got a look as if he suddenly understood everything and started laughing, “Contacts, of course!”

Safe to say Katsuki was a little confused and all of the quick shifts in mood were making him dizzy, “What? What's so funny about me having shitty vision?”

“Nothing!” Kirishima chuckled, “It's just that one, why do you wear contacts dude glasses make you look super hot and two, I've heard rumors that contacts mess with soulmate connections and we've just proven that it's true.”

Blushing from the compliment, Katsuki shook his head, “I'm in love with an idiot.”

Kirishima stopped laughing suddenly and Katsuki froze as well, struck unsure by the wide-eyed look the boy was giving him.

“You love me?”

Hearing the quiet, awed question, Katsuki relaxed slightly. This was his soulmate, he wasn't going to avoid him because of his feelings for him.

“Yeah,” he smiled softly, “I love you Eijirou.” He stumbled back into the door when the other launched forward and wrapped him in a hug, whispering into his ear.

“I love you too, Katsuki.”

That was an adorable ending and I'm proud of it.

Y'all today is opening night for the musical I'm in (ngl, its freaking Shrek) and I'm gonna have a heart attack lol
