Hazel Hope Haddock was flying on the back of her Stormcutter, Tripfire. She was hovering around the Dragon Edge with Valka and Cloudjumper, doing the daily patrol around the Dragon Island. Tuffnut watched her from below. He was lying down the roof of his hut, enjoying the morning sun. To Tuffnut, Hazel looked really sexy in her stealth suit. She had the exact same design and modification as her twin brother's suit, with wings on each side and a fin on the back of her suit. Tuff had liked Hazel since she came back to Berk.
Everyone thought Valka and Hazel were eaten by a dragon back then. It appeared that the two was taken somewhere else by a stormcutter that had become Valka's companion for twenty years. And along those years, its offspring became Hazel's companion. They flew everywhere and anywhere together.
"Haze, anything up there?" Hiccup asked from below.
"Nah, all clear," Hazel said as Tripfire pulled an unusual manoeuvre before she landed on the ground and bowed down to put her master down.
"Here you go," Hiccup gave two Icelandic cods to the majestic red stormcutter.
"How do you know she enjoyed Codfish better?" Hazel asked.
"I have my ways," Hiccup grinned.
Hazel then hunched her back and started playing around with Toothless. Hiccup only smiled at his sister who was still playing with his dragon.
"You know, Hazel and Tripfire are made for each other," Valka said as she landed beside her son. "After Stoick's death, your sister was so shaken. Tripfire stayed by her side and wiped her tears," Valka said.
"I'm sorry, I couldn't be a good brother, mum," Hiccup looked down.
"No, you've been a great brother, Hiccup. Hazel needed more time to accept the death, that's all," Valka patted Hiccup's shoulder.
"Are you two talking about me again?" Hazel asked as she let Tripfire join the flock and play around with Toothless and Stormfly.
"More or less," Valka smiled.
"I'm sorry, Haze," Hiccup hugged his sister lovingly.
"What for?" Hazel asked.
"For everything," a single tear trickled down his cheeks.
"You're crying," Hazel said as she hugged her twin brother tighter.
"Yes, he is. But so are you, Haze," Astrid said, joining the hug and comforted Hazel and Hiccup. They had suffered a lot for the past year after the war with Drago and the Bewilderbeast.
"Astrid, you and I had to do the patrols around the southern side of the island. Mum, Haze, go north. Ruff-tuff, Fishlegs, guard the east. Shea, Snotlout, go west," Hiccup commanded.
"Eyes up, we never knew when Johann and his hunters are coming for us," Astrid said.
"Hey, Tuff, be safe," Hazel said as she walked closer to Tuffnut.
"What did I miss?" Snotlout asked.
"Mind your own business, Snotlout," Ruffnut shrugged.
"Do we have time? Just a wee bit. I need to do something," Hazel said as she pulled Tuffnut's hand and took him to her hut.
"Ten minutes, Haze, Tuff. Ten minutes and we're up on the sky," Hiccup shouted.
-----
In Hazel's hut.
"What happened?" Tuffnut looked into Hazel eyes.
"Nothing, Be safe," Hazel said, hugging the boy. "And Tuff, I'll give you a haircut tonight, no objection. I just wanted to see a fresher and more handsome Tuffnut," She grinned.
Tuffnut blushed upon that statement. He had been crushing on Hazel for a while that time. Astrid and Ruffnut always teased him about his feelings toward the girl.
"As you requested, Lady," Tuffnut grinned. "Be safe up there, Haze."
"You too, Tuff. Promise me you'll see me at the dinner," Hazel said.
"Will do, Lady Haddock," He said, walking out to join the other riders along with Hazel trailing behind him.
They walked outside the hut. Everyone was already on their dragon. Tripfire offered her wing for Hazel to climb up meanwhile, Belch bowed his neck for Tuffnut to climb.
"Tripfire, let's go up," Hazel stood on Tripfire's neck as she followed Valka up to the sky.
"She's such a badass," Ruffnut said in admiration.
"I wonder how she got really attached to a reckless guy like you, Tuff," Astrid said as she took off to the south with Hiccup and Toothless.
"Barf, Belch, Up!" Ruffnut commanded.
"See you all at dinner," Hiccup said as everyone scattered to their position.
---
Tripfire roared as she came back home to the Dragon's edge with an almost lifeless Hazel. Valka moved down from Cloudjumper and called all the riders to gather. Tripfire whined as Barf and Belch landed beside her. Tuffnut jumped to her back only to find the injured Hazel.
"Oh, My Thor!" He exclaimed.
"What is it, Tuff?" Hiccup asked.
"You wouldn't like it, Hiccup," Tuffnut said as he motioned Tripfire to put both of them on the ground.
"Put her on the bed, I'll take care of her," Hiccup said. Worry was written all over his face. He couldn't afford to lose her for the second time. An Arrow was stuck on her stealth suit. She had lost a lot of blood.
"We need Gothi," Fishlegs said.
"I'll go get Gothi, Ruff, come with me. Tuff, stay with Hiccup and Valka. Shea, Snotlout, eyes on the sky." Astrid commanded.
"Stay with me," Hiccup said as he held Hazel's hand.
"Tripfire," Hazel talked in her sleep.
"She took the arrow for Tripfire," Valka said.
"She's okay, Haze," Hiccup said, squeezing Hazel's hand.
"It's a sedative arrow," Eret said as he examined the arrow. "I knew when I see one."
"Sedative for dragons could be lethal for human," Hiccup said.
"Don't worry, son," Valka tried comforting the pacing son of hers.
"Tuff," She weakly called out.
"Yes, I'm here. Don't go. Astrid and Ruff are getting Gothi here. Please stay," Tuffnut said. "You promised not to get hurt. You promised to shave my hair," He cried.
"Gothi's here," Ruffnut said as she came into the hut along with Gothi, Gobber and Astrid.
"Thank Gods," Tuffnut sighed.
Gothi took time examining the girl. She then scribbled something on the ground.
"She's strong. She'll push through," Gobber said, interpreting the scribbles.
"Everyone, out," Valka motioned. "Let Gothi work."
