Chapter 5: The After Party

10:53pm

"That was so fun; see you didn't completely hate it!" I said laughing as Dylan and I made our way back to the tables. Laurel was slow dancing with Jeffrey.

"Yeah your right, I actually had fun! Thanks!"

I'm glad Dylan was starting to feel more comfortable around people. While Dylan and I waited for the others for finish dancing, we got chatting.

"So do you have any siblings?" I asked trying to make conversation.

"Yeah, one brother and two half brothers"

"Oh how old?"

"My brother is in seventh grade. My two half brothers are in their early 20's. How about you? Only child or....?"

"Haha, no I have one sister, and one brother. Both seniors here at the high school"

"Oh twins?"

"Yep! but not identical! haha!" I laughed.

"Haha very funny" Dylan smiled.

About five minutes later Laurel, and the rest of the group were done dancing, and decided to go to Dylan's to hang out for the after party. But I sort of wished that they danced for a little while longer, as I was enjoying getting to know Dylan a little better.

The car ride to Dylan's wasn't as awkward as the car ride to the dance. Everyone was full of energy and were chatting away. I was sitting listening to the laughter going on, and when I turned to Dylan and found him smiling at me.

"What....?" I asked

"Thanks for inviting me to be in your group. I didn't expect to have this much fun" Dylan said kindly.

"Oh dude, it's not sweat! haha glad you're having fun!" I replied with a smile.

About ten minutes later we arrived at Dylans house.

"Holy crap your house is huge!" Exclaimed Laurel. And she was right, his house looked like it came straight out of a magazine. I was a bit shocked. When we all got out of the car, Dylan's mom and dad came out to greet everyone. I was still getting out of the car, and was sort of intimidated to meet them.

Dylan pulled me over and said,

"Here come meet my mom"

"Uh sure..." I said.

"Mom, dad this is Brianne"

I shook both of their hands and said "Hi nice to meet you!"

"It's so nice to meet you!" Mrs. Jacobs said "Dylan's told us a lot about you!"

"What" I thought. But just smiled in response.

"Ok girls! follow me! You can change upstairs! Boys follow Dylan downstairs" We all followed Mrs. Jacobs up the big wooden stair case.

When she left us to change Laurel exclaimed "dang, they must be rich! their house is so nice!"

All of the girls were overwhlemed by how fancy everything was. Allison and Laurel ran into the master bathroom and began snooping through the draws, as Sarah, Maya, and I just sat on the floor once we were changed into our sweats.

"Guys stop going through everything!" Maya called out.

"Yeah let's go, I'm sure the guys are already done changing" Sarah added. With that the three of us left the room and went downstairs. Soon after Laurel and Maya came down laughing.

"Dylan why don't you give your friends a tour of the downstairs"

"Uh ok" Dylan said. He opened a side door that led to the basement. And we all followed him.

"Oh yea" Dylan said "I have two dogs, and they get really excited around people" When he opened the door to his room, two small dogs ran up to all of us, barking and jumping on us.

"Oh my god they're so cute!" Laurel exclaimed, as she reached down to pick up the one with lighter brown hair color.

"Let's watch a movie" Michael said. We all went to the living room area of the basement, and sat down as Dylan and set up the DVD player. The movie wasn't at all that entertaing for me, so I went to the stair with Allison and Sam. We began chatting about how fun the night has been when Dylan came to join us.

"Hey, we could go back upstairs to talk if you guys wanted to"

"Sure" Allison said. We all exited the basement, leaving the others downstairs watching Kick Ass 2.

Time flew by pretty fast, because the next thing I knew, parents were coming back to pick us up. It was about 12:45am when Laurel's mom came to get us.

"Shoot I missed crufew" I said to Laurel.

"Oh calm down" Laurel said.

When we said our goodbyes Mrs. Jacobs gave Laurel and I big hugs, telling us that we were welcome to drop by anytime and hang out.

"Thanks for hosting the after party" I told Dylan as he walked Laurel and I out. "You're parents are really nice too!"

"Thanks for inviting me Brianne, I had a lot of fun I'll see you Monday!" He said with a smile then waved goodbye.
