Chapter Sixteen

~Lisa's P.O.V~

I awoke to the sound of my son throwing up while the other told him to be strong. I knew deep down they were both as strong as they could be. Jake was never as affected by their dad leaving as Brennen was. For some reason Brennen loves taking all of the blame. There's was never something I could do or say to change his mind.

I sat up when the sink began to run and Jake emerged from the bathroom.
"How is he?" I asked him almost silently.
"Worse than usually, he expected Colby to be here," was his only response.
"What about the note?"
"I don't think he read it," Jake said as he pointed to the trashcan where the note had been discarded.
I reached into the bin and retrieved the note hoping that at some point he would want to read it.

~Brennen's P.O.V~

"Hey Mom," I smiled.
I could tell she saw through the mask because, like always, she rushed to me with open arms. My eyes teared up as I felt the love that only a mother could have for her son. My voice cracked as I attempted to say "I'm sorry," I was quickly cut off by my mother telling me that we'd get through it. Again, I knew she was right. I felt two more hands on my shoulders as Jake joined the hug.
However, this didn't last long when a crying Jessica walked into the room. She ran to me sobbing as she yelled.
"How dare you!" she shouted. "Do you understand how worried I was? What would I or any of us done if you didn't make it?"
"But Jess-" I was cut off.
"No Brennen. We vowed that it would be us four against the world. Four not three. We couldn't do this without you- I couldn't. You always watch out for all of us but what about you? Huh? Why can't you ever watch out for yourself?"
"That's enough Jessica," I heard my mother say. I knew this was hard on all of them and I wished I could be different. I wished I didn't blame myself for everything. But yet I still did.
"I'm sorry" I whispered. "I'm sorry I put all of you through hell. I'm sorry I can't be stronger and I'm sorry," my voice cracked, "I'm sorry I'm gay"

So y'all like I said I would, I forgot to update but I had a reason I promise. I live in Washington but I was in California for choir and right now I'm in Germany heading to Italy. I trust that none of y'all are going to seek me out but now you know where I live. For some explanation: Bradlee and Brennen dated but on the DL and I'm going to go back and change the chapter where they hang out to seem more like that. Anyway yeah Brennen just came out. I'll try to write more on the next plane but until then love yourselves and express yourselves (btw 369 words haha lol I'm a child) 😂
