The next morning, Jude woke up with contractions."Ah, shit," She groans, standing up and rubbing her stomach. The baby wasn't scheduled to come for another three weeks.
"Daddy was right after all, huh?" She gets another contraction and has to squat next to the bed until it passes.
"Alright, let's get moving."
Jude hustles around her room, packing herself a bag for the hospital. She trusts Timothy will keep his wits about him and bring his suitcase back home, so she only grabs him one change of clothes. Jude can feel another contraction building, so she quickly finishes packing the baby bag. She practically runs back into the bedroom with everything to call Lana.
"Hey, Jude. What's going on?"
"Okay, well you know how Timothy left for his trip?"
"Yeah?"
"I'm in labor."
"Jude, oh my God! I'm on my way right now, okay?" Lana says, jumping up. Jude manages a response through gritted teeth and hangs up.
"Jude is in labor, will you be okay with the kids?" Lana asks Kit, rushing around the house to collect her things.
"Of course! Will you call and update us?"
Lana nods and kisses the kids goodbye before jumping in the car. Jude tries to call Timothy several times, but he doesn't answer. She leaves a message at the front desk for him and waits for Lana.
"Jude!" Lana yells the second she steps in the house.
"I'm coming," Jude calls back, grabbing both bags and hurrying down the stairs.
They hurry to the car, and halfway to the hospital Jude remembers something.
"Lana, I don't have the car seat! It's in Timothy's car."
"It's okay. We'll try him again when we get to the hospital."
Jude nods and fights the tears welling up in her eyes.
The drive to the hospital is short, but full of contractions.
"Lana," Jude sobs, holding her tightening stomach.
"I know, Jude. But after all the pain, you'll have a beautiful baby!"
"What if something is wrong with it?" Jude cries, staring down at her bump.
"Why would you say that?"
"Because of the abruption!"
Jude is still sobbing.
Lana pulls into a parking spot, quickly grabbing the bags and helping Jude into the Emergency Room.
After about 30 minutes, they are situated in a room.
"Can you call Timothy?"
"Jude, they've been trying him since we got here."
"Oh, God! He was right!"
Jude is in hysterics once again. When they checked her, she was about 5 centimeters. She feels another contraction building and stands, bent over the bed.
"I need him here, Lana. I can't do this without him!"
"I know, Jude. I'll go check and see if hey reached him yet."
"Thank you," Jude smiles weakly, pacing the room. She glances up at the clock, seeing that it's almost 8 at night.
"He should be back," She says softly as Lana re-enters the room.
