Hi there. My name's Emma Straight. I love talking and meeting new people. There's a lot about me that might surprise people. Like I'm Bi and not Straight. I have long dirty blond hair, ocean blue eyes, and I have freckles around my nose.
I'm a really lucky kid. The night I became a foster kid was when I was left outside a grocery store in New York. The big apple to be close. I was only two days old at the time. I was lucky. There was a worker that works there that found me. We talk a lot too. He's the best.
Anyway, I live in a home for girls. It's hard for me to tell anyone what I like to do. There's too much to pick from. "Emma, time to get up."the foster mom said. Her name's Miss.Peterson. She's really nice. But she doesn't have that much money so I give all my food to the littler kids so they can eat. I get a free lunch everyday at school. Oh, one thing you should know is I'm a gifted child. So that means I'm smarter than a normal kid my age. I'm as smart as a grown adult. Anyway I got up from my top bunk and went to get dressed.
After getting dressed I grabbed a small notebook of mine, a couple pencils, my really old ipod, and headphones. I put my hair up in a ponytail and walked out of my room. I leave the same time as the other kids, but instead of going to school I go somewhere in the city. Today I'm going to central park. I love writing. I write about a bunch of stuff. I write about kids getting adopted, a bunch of fan fics, and what life would be like if there was robots around. Right, now I'm writing a book based on me.
The main character in my book is Lily. She's gone through the same thing I did. She's gone past every adoption day without finding a family. After hours of sitting on a bench writing I walked back to the home.
When I got there outside the house was a bunch of cars parked at the sidewalk. It was weird. I don't think it's an adoption day. Anyway I walked into the house to see a big group of people in the living room. "Emma, can you come here please?"Miss.Peterson asked. I nodded and walked into the room. I then sat down on the couch. "Alright, kids. This is Brian Quinn also known as Q, Sal Vulcano, James Murray also known as Murr, and Joe Gatto. They're here to adopt one of you."a man said.
All the kids started to smile. Whenever this happens it means they get happy only for their hearts to break in pieces. I learned that the hard way. "So, everyone. I'll let my friend choice for them." the man said. I rolled my eyes and looked at the ground. "What's your name?"A voice asked. I knew that person wasn't talking to me. "Emma, it's rude not to answer."Miss.Peterson said.
I looked up to see that the voice was talking to me. I pointed to myself. The lady nodded. "Emma Straight."I said. "Can you tell me a little about yourself?"she asked. I nodded. "I've been here all my life. I really like putting myself out there. I don't go to school anymore since I don't need it anymore. I'm thirteen. I was left outside of a grocery store when I was two days old. I don't know my parents or my real family. And uh there's a bunch more that I don't know how to say."I said.
She nodded and looked at the rest of the kids. I knew she wasn't going to pick me. But, it'd be amazing if it did happen. Having a family for once. "Alright, I know who I want them to adopt."the lady said. Her eyes they stayed on me. Wait, am I going to have a family. "Emma, go pack your things."she said. I smiled and got up before running up to my room. It didn't take me too long to pack all my stuff.
I mean all I have is a duffel bag of clothes and a backpack of other stuff. I smiled and took one last look around the room. I guess this is the last time I might see this place. I smiled and walked out of the room closing the door behind me. I then walked down the stairs to the main floor. The guys where just walking out of the room. "Alright, Emma. You ready to go?"Sal asked. I nodded and we walked out of the home.
I put my bags in the trunk of Murr's car. I then climbed into his car. With Sal in the passenger seat. I buckled my seat belt and we drove off to my new home. "Alright, so can you tell us a little more about yourself?"Sal asked with a smile on his face. "Okay, um. I love an color including black and grey. I'm not sure if I was born in New York or not. I don't go to school, because I'm gifted. I love to write, read, anything art, or anything I can find fun."I said. They nodded.
"I love to write too."Murr said. "Yeah, Murr has a couple published books."Sal added. I nodded my head and looked out the window at everything passing outside. I smiled. "So, why'd you guys want to adopt?"I asked. They looked at each other for a little bit. Should I be worried? "We just wanted to get one kid out of the system."Murr said looking at Sal and the road. I nodded. I guess that's a good answer. I should look into them and all that.
