I walk down the hall silently. My dad hit me so hard it left a bruise on my right cheek. I open my locker and grab my history book. I slam the door shut and turn to see my best friend Jac. "What'd you do to your right cheek? Your old man again?" He says, raising an eyebrow. Despite how athletic I may be, or how smart, I will never fit in. A guy bumps into my shoulder really hard, knocking my history book to the ground. I hear him chuckle as I bend down to pick it up. I hear Jac mumble something. "Anyway, answer my question." He says. I look at him and he nods. "I'm not sayin' anything, but you should tell someone. Last time-" he starts to say, but I cover his mouth before he can finish. I look at him and he nods again. We walk into our history room and sit down. I lay my head down, tired from the restless night of sleep. He was yelling and screaming all night. "Mister Seia Osorto," I hear a voice say. I lift my head to see my teacher, Mr. Creit staring down at me. "Tired?" He asks. I lift my head and his expression shifts. "What happened to your face?" He says. "Oh, my little brother, Jay. We were wrestling and he got a little too into it." I say as I smile. I can feel Jac's stare burning a hole through me, but I ignore it and continue smiling. "I see. Be more careful." He says as the bell rings and he walks to his desk. "Seriously? Your little brother? He's like eight." Jac whispers to me. "Seven." I correct him, and he rolls his eyes. I force myself to stay awake until the bell rings. Jac and I part ways, him giving me an assuring look. He looks back at me and gives me a thumbs up and continues to his literature class. I stand there for a second, then head to my biology class.
That day... memories flash through my mind. I ignore it and rush through the rest of the day. Soon, I'm walking down the cement steps again. I see an SUV parked next to the curb. As I pass it, chills run down my spine. I walk faster, eager to get away from this bad aura. I hear a door open and I turn to see two large men getting out of the car. They look at me and start walking towards me. I try to walk normally, but I can hear their footsteps. I take my phone out and act like I got a call. "Hello-" Is all I get out before I feel a large hand clasp over my mouth, causing me to drop my phone. It grabs around my stomach roughly. I bite the hand and break free. I throw my bag at them, to slow them, and to make it easier to run. I take off as fast as I can. I hear their footsteps close behind me. I take a sharp turn and notice the black SUV from the school, following. I run to the park and climb a tree as fast as I can. They run right under me. Suddenly, I feel a sharp pain slice into my body. I look at my shoulder, where the pain was coming from, and see an object sticking out. I pull it out and immediately recognize it. A tranquilizer dart. My legs go numb. I fall from the tree, dropping the dart, somewhere I don't know. My vision goes blurry and I see the men standing over me. My vision fades and I feel them pick me up.
****I wake up in a crate, that looks as if it's supposed to hold a Great Dane. I look around, wincing as pain crashes through me. I'm in a car? My gut churns as I realize where I am. The black SUV. I panic and grab the bars only for my fingers to be greeted with a boot. "Get back." I hear a rough voice say. More pain washes through my arms. I'm being kidnapped! No, I have to get back to Jay. Please, Jac come save me, like you did before. I start to sob silently as memories flash across my vision. I find my voice. "Are you going to kill me?" I say, surprisingly calm. "Shut up." I hear the voice tell me again. "No, no it's okay." I hear an unfamiliar voice say. A man with gray streaks through jet black hair turns to me. His voice is kind. "No, we are not going to kill you." He says as he smiles. "What do you want then?" I ask. "We need your assistance." He says. "With what?" I say, trying to keep my voice steady. He hesitates, "With some... Things." Chills lace my spine and I resist the urge to shudder. Please, Jac. Come save me. My eyelids start to droop. "You're going to be quite tired. We weren't exactly how much you weighed, so we took a guess when we tranquilized you." He says as he turns around again. My vision turns dark once more.
****I wake in a bed attached to a steel wall. I sit up quickly. I look down to see my clothes are different now. My jeans and T-Shirt were replaced with what looks like a cheap white nurse uniform. I look around the room. There's a sink, a toilet, a heavy steel door, and a huge mirror that stretches across a wall. I've seen this before. I stand and walk to the 'mirror' I press my finger against it. I see if there is a gap between the reflection and my finger. No gap. My stomach churns as I realize I'm being watched. I place my hand by my side again. I stare at the two-way glass before I walk back to the twin sized bed and sit on it, leaning against the wall. What do I do? Jay must be worried. Jac is probably planning to go to my house. What if my dad hurts Jay? How long has it been? Suddenly the steel door swings open. A man steps in and the door shuts behind him.
