My gut churns as my vision comes back. I wake up to see the worried face of Jac. "What happened?" I ask, sitting up. Jac grabs my arm and helps me to my feet. I spot Zach on his knees, with his head down. I give Jac a questioning glance. "Well," He begins "When you released Denki, you almost hit us, and you killed almost half the forest." Zach looks up at me. Fear spreads across his face. "N-No! You stay there, you freak!" He shouts. I look at Jac, waiting for an answer.
He sighs. "I tackled Zach to the ground because Denki was getting out of control, and you were shouting things. I didn't hear what you said." He says as he rubs the back of his neck. I sigh. "I told you it was a bad idea. I'm going back." I say as I turn to leave. I pause. Something doesn't feel right. I turn to face Jac. He stares at me and a grin spreads across his face. I glance at Zach, the same frozen look on his face. An emotionless gaze, but a grin spread from ear to ear.
He takes a step forward and I try to move but I can't. "W-What?" I say as he comes closer. "You should have died in that lab." He says, his grin unmoving. "They performed a surgery on you that isn't possible to survive." He says, stopping in front of me, and Zach starts walking closer as well. "What are you-" I say as he grabs my face. His hand is ice cold. "Shhh. Do you hear that?" He says as he puts his other hand to his ear. "Silence. I like it this way." Zach tosses something to him and he catches it.
He holds up a small pocket knife as he slips his hand over my nose and mouth. I squirm. "Don't worry Seia. It will be over quickly." Zach says as he cocks his head to one side. I feel Jac's foot kick my legs from underneath me, and I fall on my back with a grunt. He covers my nose and mouth again. Denki? I need you now. Please! I think. I can't feel his presence. Where is he? Suddenly I feel a sharp pain stab into my windpipe. Oxygen refuses to enter my lungs.
I look down to see the pocket knife sticking out of my throat. Jac stands up, still grinning. Zach looks down at me as Jac joins him. I grab the knife and rip it out of my throat. I can only hope my healing ability is good enough for this. I feel the wound starting to heal, slower this time.
Suddenly I'm gasping in air and Jac and Zach's worried faces are inches above mine. "Are you okay?" Jac yells. "I'm so sorry! I knew you couldn't control it but I made you do it anyway!" He says as he shakes me. I look at him, as I feel sweat trickle down my forehead onto the ground. "You good?" Zach asks, extending a hand to help me up.
I look at the hand, before taking it. He lifts me to my feet and I brush the dust off myself. "Are you okay?" Zach asks. Yeah. They both tilt their heads to one side, with confused looks. What? I look at them, raising an eyebrow. "Are you messing with us?" Jac asks. No, what do you mean? Zach exchanges a glance with Jac. "You see it too, right?" He asks Jac, and he nods. Jac walks to me and tilts my head up. "Did anything else happen at that lab that you didn't tell me Seia?" He asks. No? I'm confused, what are you doing? I swat his hands away.
"You have a scar on your throat. You didn't have that when you left. You didn't even have that a minute ago." He says, backing up. "What lab?" Zach asks. "Seia will fill you in," Jac replies. I tune them out as panic fills my chest. Could that weird nightmare have done this? "Hello? Earth to Seia." Jac waves his hand in front of my face. Can you hear me? Tears start to well in my eyes. Jac looks confused. I take his phone from his hoodie pocket and type onto his notepad the question. He shakes his head, and his eyes widen in realization.
I fall to my knees and let the tears fall. What was the last thing I said to Jay? "You need to tell me what happened in that head of yours while you were unconscious," Jac says, kneeling in front of me. I nod as I start typing on the keyboard again. Zach looks confused then comes behind Jac. Once I'm done typing I hand his phone back. Their facial expressions change as they continue to read. Jac looks at me and I see what I think is him telling me 'I'm sorry.' As Zach lifts his head, he sighs. "Jac fill me in on what happened in that lab." He says angrily.
