I wake up, fog covering my vision. "Hello?" I say. As my vision clears, I realize I'm in a room similar to the last one. The only difference is that there is no mirror. I sit up in the all-too-familiar bed. Pain shoots through my body. My head begins to pound. "Good to see you're awake." A voice says. "What? Jasper?" I say, panic gripping me. "Don't be alarmed. We moved you to a different room, with an intercom so that we can chat with each other." Jasper says with a robotic voice. "How long has it been?" I ask, as my eye begins to throb. "We are quite impressed with the results of your procedure. Have you looked at your chest yet?" He says with a slight chuckle. I lift what's left of my shirt. A long scar drags itself down the center of my chest, the stitches gone.
I drop my shirt. I feel a tingling sensation on my face. "How long has it been?" I repeat as I touch my eye. He hesitates before he says "An hour." My heart pounds. "What do you mean?" I say as I stand quickly. "What I mean," He says, "You were knocked out for an hour. This means, that your procedure caused you to have incredible healing abilities, along with being able to produce electricity and use it however you please, at will." My head starts to spin. "The only downside we've found is that you get scars like a normal human. This means that we can operate soon." He says as if it's completely normal. Panic swarms in me as I hear his last words. "W-what do y-you mean?" I say, my voice shaking. I can almost feel him smiling. "We can perform another operation on you soon. Today if you're up for it." He says.
"No! Jasper, please. This isn't right. This isn't human." I say, swallowing my tears. "Oh Seia," He says as if I'm a child. "Neither are you. Not anymore that is." I sink to my knees, defeated. "Just prepare. In thirty minutes, we're coming to bring you in for another operation." He says as I hear the intercom click off. I run through all the possibilities to escape I can think of. All of them have the same ending.
Time flies by before I realize it, I hear my door click open. I turn to see a man in body armor. Only one? "Where's your friend?" I ask, accepting my fate. "Dead." He says as he places the handcuffs on me once again. I smile as we walk through the door. "I wish I could say I'm sorry," I say, fighting the urge to laugh. He pushes me hard through the dreaded door. I start laughing as he straps me into the chair. "What's so funny?" Jasper asks. I gasp for air as I try to stop laughing. The guard whispers something to him and he nods. "Darren says you were mean," Jasper says childishly. I start laughing again. "You name is Darren?" I ask, laughing harder. The guard grunts as he leaves the room. When I finally catch my breath, Jasper is looking at me like I'm a maniac.
I start laughing again. "Well guess what, this is the crap that makes me this way," I say. Jasper looks at the familiar woman with questioning eyes. She shrugs. "Hey, buddy," Jasper begins, but I start laughing again. "You think we're friends?" I question, tears forming in my eyes. Electricity starts leaping through the room. I laugh harder as the electricity grows stronger. "Seia! Enough!" Jasper yells, but it makes me laugh harder. Suddenly, I feel something fill my mouth. I look down to see the woman shoving a rag in my mouth. Electricity burns the rags, and I look at the woman.
I smile. "You look like a Karen." She slightly flinches as I hit the nail on the head. "What? You gonna take my kids?" I say, my smiles fading. She looks at Jasper, confused. "You wanna speak to my manager?" I ask, seriously. "Listen Seia, we're beginning the operation now," Jasper says. I feel the slicing start again, but this time it's... numb. I blink at the bright light over my head. The woman looks stunned. "What is it, Karen?" I say, fighting the urge to laugh again. "Seia, as fast as I'm slicing," Jasper starts, "You're healing twice as fast." I chuckle a little. "Is that so?" I ask. "I'm not feelin' anything."
"Just make the injection, we know where it's located," Karen says. "I don't want to take the risk with our new discovery," Jasper replies. "Yeah, Karen," I say sarcastically. She glares at me and I stick my tongue out. "Just do it, Jasper." She says as she hands him a syringe. "Fine." He says as he sighs. Suddenly, I feel something go deep into my chest. It still feels numb. I feel the liquid enter my body, at the same time, I feel my heart soak up the liquid. Suddenly, energy floods through me. A huge explosion rings through my ears.
