I woke up with a jolt. It was pitch black outside. I glanced at my watch. 1:30! I was running late! I jumped out of bed, and grabbed my backpack, when all of a sudden, I heard a familiar voice. "Hi Nicky." Said Zach, stepping into the light. I jumped in surprise and turned around. "How did you get in here?" I asked. I looked around. I didn't see any FBI agents... But that didn't stop me from being suspicious. "What do you want?" I said, looking around for escape routes. "You're going to turn me in, aren't you?" He opened his mouth to speak when I cut him off. "Don't lie." "Look, I'm not going to turn you in." He put his hands up in a sign of surrender. "I just need to talk to you." He looked into my eyes. "You're not normal, are you?" He asked quietly. "Umm, no, I mean..." I trailed off. "Me neither." He said under his breath. Wait what? "Huh?" I said, obviously confused. He took a deep breath. "I have powers, like you." "You're lying." I said automatically. "No, I'm not." He said. "Prove it then." I said, challengingly, putting my hands on my hips. "Okay." He said, closing his eyes. At first, nothing happened. But then, slowly at first, he started floating up towards the ceiling, before he stopped, hovering two feet above the ground. My jaw dropped. "Oh my god..." I whispered, covering my mouth with my hand. "Believe me now?" He said, landing gently back on the ground. I nodded my head. "But... How did you get them?" He shrugged. "I don't know. All my life I've lived in foster homes, until a few days ago when my latest pair of foster parents dropped me off here. I have flight, super strength, and telepathy, so mind reading." "I have telekinesis, super speed and healing." I said. "From the second I met you, I knew that you where not a normal girl." he said. "How?" I asked. "You read my mind?" "Well... Not exactly. You're the first person I've ever met who I couldn't 'read'. I don't know... I just couldn't pick anything up from you. It was weird. I knew something was up. After I saw you on the news, I asked you to come talk to me. I waited downstairs for an hour and a half before I decided to come up here. Sorry for scaring you, by the way. It's just I really needed to ask you... " He paused for a minute. "Go on." I said. "I want to come with you." He admitted. "Once they found out about you, I knew that it was no longer safe for me to stay here, or anywhere for that matter. They would find out about me sooner or later. Please let me come." He pleaded. "I can fly at fast speeds! In fact, I could even carry you up in the air with me." He looked so desperate. "Please don't leave me here alone." He said quietly. I thought about it for a minute. "Okay... Go get your stuff. Meet me here in ten minutes." He grinned. "Thank you." He said as he walked out of my room and down the hall.

After packing a small backpack with some clothes, I sat down on my bed and waited for Zach. Was it the right idea to let him come? I thought. I couldn't abandon him here... Plus he was the only person I've ever met who was like me. I looked out my window. But what if he's lying? Said a voice in the back of my head. What if this was some kind of trick... What if he is going to get the FBI right now? I pushed those thoughts aside. Zach didn't seem like he was lying... Plus, if he turned me in, wouldn't they find out about him? My train of thought was interrupted by a knock at my door. I looked though the key hole. It was Zach, holding a blue duffle bag. I opened the door. "Ready to go?" He asked. "Ready as I'll ever be." I muttered. He walked in and I shut and locked the door behind him. "Okay, so we are going to escape out this window. I'm going to climb out using a rope, but..." I motioned to him. "You obviously don't need that." He nodded. "If you want, I can carry you down." He offered. "It will be faster and-" all of a sudden he stopped. "Oh no." He muttered his face turning pale. "What's wrong? Are you okay?" I asked. "The FBI is here." He responded. "Just downstairs. I can hear their thoughts."
