Katherine's PoV Here we go, my next biggest step in life. I've been making a lot of big changes to my life this week. On August 7th my baby girl was born and now on August 11th I'm applying for university! I was ready though, this is all I've ever wanted, a loving boyfriend, a baby and to go to university.
It was about 8am, Chase was making breakfast and I was applying for university. I had applied for about 5 that were close by so I wouldn't have to travel very far since we had set up home now so we weren't going anywhere any time soon. "Do you want a cup of tea?" Chase asked. "Just orange please" I put my phone away and he put a plate of eggs, bacon and toast in front of me. "This looks delicious." I smiled He sat down on the sofa next to me and began to stuff his face. I brung the bacon to my lips and instantly felt nauseous. "What's wrong?" Chase asked me. "I can't eat, I feel sick." I moaned. "Is that normal?" I shrugged and put the plate away "Maybe I just lost my appetite?" I suggested. I sighed and drank my orange juice. "I better get going to the hospital anyways, I hope her weighs going up fast" I smiled. "Me too, I'll be at work till 5" "Okay, see you later" I waved to chase on my way out. I put the keys in the car and started driving to hospital. I got there at about 9 ish and it was pretty quiet. "How can I help you?" The receptionist asked me. "I'm here to see my daughter in the NICU" She asked for my name and info before buzzing me into the hospital. The corridors were silent except for the odd mother wandering around. I got to the NICU and walked over to Autumns incubator. "Hey pretty girl" I whispered. She was laid down but awake, the nurse came over to me. "Morning" she smiled. I smiled back. "How is she?" I asked. "Perfect her weight is rising, by tomorrow she should be good to go." I looked at my little baby and smiled, sticking my finger in the hole so she could hold my finger. "Would you like to hold her?" The nurse asked. I nodded. The nurse passed her to me and then left. You could tell she had put on a bit of weight, she was still tiny to me though. I rocked her in my arms, her eyes were slightly open but she still couldn't focus I don't think. "Did you miss mummy? She missed you." I planted a kiss on her little forehead. It made me sad to see her with the feeding tube, it wasn't big but it was cello taped onto her little face. I couldn't wait to bring her home though, I held her to my chest and sighed. I loved her so much, you couldn't understand how much I loved her, I had only known her 4 days but she was perfect.
"Hello" a doctor came around to us. I smiled at him. "I'm here to weigh Miss Hudson." I handed her to the doctor and she began to cry, her little screams filling the room. He placed her on the scale and then handed her back to me, I rocked her until she stopped crying. "She seems to be at 4 pounds now!" He smiled. "Brilliant." "You can take her home today, not necessarily right now but today." I nodded and he waved goodbye. "Well done baby, are you ready to come home?" I whispered. I placed her back in the incubator and kissed her one last time before I went back to the car, I was taking her home today but I needed a baby carrier and some clothes for her. Also the nurses needed to detach her feeding tube and get her ready to leave.
I drove to the nearest baby store, I hadn't yet been in one but I was excited. Inside there was so many prams and accessories. I looked at one of the prams in the new born section, £300, shit. This was going to hurt my bank account. "Hello" one of the staff members came over. "I'd like to purchase this." I smiled. She looked at me funny before rolling her eyes. "This is £300 ma'am" "I know" I snapped. "Okay well come over here." She led me to the cash register. I paid on my card and she got one of the men in the shop to set it up for me. "Can you detach the seat please?" I asked. He nodded and clicked the seat off. "Thank you" I smiled. I clicked the seat into place and drove back up to the hospital. I carefully changed Autumn into a baby grow, some mittens and some socks before clicking her into the car seat. "My gorgeous little girl, are you ready to go?" I kissed her forehead. I picked up the seat and walked to the car, being extra gentle because I hadn't yet carried her outside. I pulled the hood of the seat down to block the sun as we walked to the car. I clicked her in and drove so slow all the way home, I was probably going too far under the speed limit as-well. We got home at around 1pm since I had drove like a granny. I put the seat down and unbuckled her, she made a little cooing noise as I picked her up and held her in my arms. "Did you like that girly" I giggled. I put Autumn on a play mat on the floor whilst I sterilised some of her bottles, she was still in sight and kept an eye on her. She didn't move much she just kind of laid there looking at the ceiling. I got her a bottle ready and tested it on my hand first. I picked her up for feeding time, she suckled on the bottle better than she did in hospital, the surroundings were new and unfamiliar so she had her eyes open whilst she drank, I could see her looking around even though everything would just be a colourful blur. Once she finished her bottle I gently whipped away the sick from her bib. I should probably put her down for a nap now, her crib was ready but she was only little so we had her basinet in my bedroom for now. I took her in and put her into some pyjamas, you could tell she was tired so I put her down and put her little blanket over her, it was very thin and loose to make sure it wouldn't cause any harm to her, I tucked it into the basinet as well just to make sure it didn't go over her head. I kissed her one last time before turning on the baby monitor and going into the kitchen. It was about 3pm now and I was getting hungry, I couldn't go shopping since I had Autumn and the cupboards were empty. So I settled for cold pizza and left some slices for Chase. I sat on the sofa and finished my pizza whilst watching a movie, I cleaned my plate up and went to check on Autumn, she was sleeping soundly with a little dummy in her mouth. I smiled and went back to my movie. That's all I remember after that, I must of dozed off.
