My dad used to say that the most important thing in life is family, but now I'm not so sure. My foster parents sent me back to my room to change because I was wearing eyeliner and mascara, something that they've seen me do plenty of times before. I grab my chromebook and backpack sprinting out the door on my way to school.
The first class of the day was math. The teacher always made me feel like I'm an idiot, but I let my tiredness get over me as I started to doze off in the middle of class, but the problematic teacher yells, "Ms. Choe get up before I give you detention!" I get up even through my lack of sleep but start to doze off again, my Math teacher becoming angrier by the second.
"That's it Ms. Choe, detention for you!"
"Just perfect," I whispered to myself. Hours laster, schools over and so is Detention I walk home not forgetting to check my phone. 6 missed calls from my "parents". The walk home was boring and quiet but getting to my house I find several policemen outside talking to my parents, while I'm trying to stay hidden so they don't know I'm there.
After what seemed like an hour, though I know it's only been five minutes the police are now around the corner, looking as if they were searching for someone. I jump out of the bush that I was in and start running because the police are now chasing me.
"Please! Leave me alone! What did I do to you?" I yell back at them as I sprint on the sidewalk. I'm probably about a few blocks away from my parents' house before I find a nice creepy alley to hide in and catch my breath while they're still trying to find me. I take in my surroundings to find that I am now in the city, which is like a whole mile from my house.
I'm just wondering why they were chasing me in the first place, I haven't done anything! I'm nowhere near my house and all I have with me is my phone, my charger, and like about a hundred dollars on me. I start heading to the nearest gas station, buying a snack and some water so that I don't die. But of course, that had to be ruined by a few drunks coming out of the nearest pub.
" Miss won't you come over here for a second and give us a little kissy," I heard one of them yell, I turned around enough to notice they just barely look old enough to drink, but that's not for me to judge.
"Um, yeah no. i'm good!" I yelled back as I started running.
Again I was running, which I was in no condition to do but did anyway, anything to get away from those people. I look around and figure out I'm lost. No one around, phone dead, and only 80 dollars in my pocket and my phone charger.
It's by what I could tell maybe 9 or 10 at night, I entered a pawn shop and was ready for the smell of smoke, mold, and rust but when I got into the place it was pretty small and it smelled like peppermints. It was sort of empty but for a short but bulky figure.
