"What do you mean? What phone call?" I ask, trying to play dumb.
I was always a terrible liar and it showed, my voice went up about three octaves when I spoke.
"Uh huh." He looks at me with a raised eyebrow.
We stared at each other for a while before I finally looked away, sighing.
"Okay, fine, I did listen. What are you gonna do? Kill me?" I ask.
"Whoa, Hee-Young, calm down. You're part of Bangtan now and I would never kill another family member." He says.
"Family...right. Listen, if I'm part of your family, can I at least get to know you?" I ask.
"20 questions?" He asks with a smirk.
"You read my mind. What's your full name?" I ask.
"Jung Hoseok." He answers.
"Okay, and how old are you?" I continued.
"I'm 19. I'm gonna stop you there, it's my turn to ask questions. What's your full name?" He asks.
"Choe Hee-Young." I answer.
"And your age?" He asks.
"I...I'm almost 18." I answer.
Kinda personal but I asked him so it's only fair that he asks me. He nods and opens his mouth to ask another question but I hold a hand up to stop him from talking.
"Hoseok, er, Hobi. What exactly is Bangtan?" I ask, looking into his eyes with a tilted head.
"Do you really want to know?" He asks.
I nod my head vigorously, earning a chuckle from him.
"Okay so, it started when Namjoon caught his dad beating his older sister." He says, stopping as if it seemed painful to continue.
"Ah, what about his mom? Was she there?" I ask.
He just shakes his head in response.
"Well, are you gonna continue or what?" I ask.
"He was put into foster care until he was 18. He found some guys and created Bangtan with them." He says.
"Were you ever in foster care?" I ask.
"No." He answers.
"Then how did you become a part of Bangtan?" I ask.
"That's another story for another time, let's continue our game." He smiles sadly.
His answer made me a little mad but I understood.
"So, Hee-Young, what's your story?" He asks.
"Okay, so you won't tell me yours but I have to tell you mine? How is that fair? You know what, you asked, so I'm gonna answer. Ever since I was little, it's always just been me and my dad. My mom died of cancer when I was 6 so I kinda had to live with him, but I didn't mind it at all. I loved him with my entire heart. At the time, he was a newscaster, nothing too big, but I came home one day to find some guys there. One of them had, uh, had a gun pointed to his head. Dad caught sight of me and told me to run, to run away and never look back. I-"
"Did you run?" Hoseok interrupted.
"Do you want to hear the rest of the story?" I snap at him.
"Sorry." He holds his hands up in surrender.
"Yes, I ran but as soon as I reached the sidewalk, I heard a gunshot go off. I was 11 and they never found the killer, and I don't think they're ever going to. I've been in foster care ever since. I came home a few days ago to cops standing in my front lawn. They started to chase me, I saw your shop, went in and, well, you know the rest." I say.
I bring my eyes up to Hoseok to see that he was about to cry.
"Uh, my turn. How do you get your skin to look so good?" I ask.
"Uhm, I wash it?" He asks.
I was about to ask another question when the door opened, Jimin stepping into the room. Weird, I thought I locked the door. He looks between us with suspicion.
"Jimin." Hoseok and I say in unison.
"It's not what you think, it's only 20 questions." Hoseok finishes for the both of us.
Jimin looks between us once again, looking at me before looking at Jimin.
"Jimin, you look hella tired. Go to bed." I say.
Without saying anything, he did as he was told. Hoseok and I look at each other before starting to laugh.
"Okay, now what are we gonna do, I'm bored of 20 questions." I say.
Hoseok shrugged his shoulders before perking up.
"Oh, follow me." He grabbed my hand and walked me out into the hallway.
I have to admit, I am a little scared. We stop in front of the last room in the hall, my anxiety at the highest level when he opens the door. Posters decorated the walls and I saw some game cases thrown about, a radio sat upon a small nightstand and the entire room was messy with clothes. Hoseok walked in first, taking a seat on his bed before patting the spot next to him, signaling for me to come and sit by him. I did as I was told and sat next to him, watching as he opened a drawer from his nightstand to pull out a few pictures.
"That's my Hyung and that's my Noona." He says, pointing at the people in a picture.
How cute, his family.
We began to talk for what seemed like hours, it was a wonder that no one had interrupted us like Jimin had. Some of my hair falls into my face as I laugh at a joke he told me and He leans over to tuck it behind my ear, making me blush.
I smile at him which causes him to smile back, making me go scarlett red. I see something move in my peripherals and I turn my head to see Namjoon, my face going pale from embarrassment. I abruptly stood up and walked out of the room, seeing Namjoon looking intently at Hoseok as I pass him.
I turn around and wave a small goodbye to Hoseok, seeing him give me a small wave in return. I made my way into the living room, ignoring the boys as they tried so desperately to talk to me. Namjoon and Hoseok came down after a while, Hoseok sitting next to me on the couch. I tried to conceal my blush but I know that I was doing a terrible job at it.
"Hey, Hee-Young, welcome to Bangtan, first things first, you're gonna have to do something that I think you're gonna hate." Namjoon speaks.
"Uh, what do I have to do?" I ask, my playful mood turning serious.
"You're gonna have to go to a really fancy party with one of us as your date and, I'm sorry to say, you're gonna have to wear a dress." He replies.
"Are you serious? Okay, well who's my date and what's the dress look like?" I ask.
"Hoseok agreed to be your date, but that's only because you guys are already friends. The dress is dark blue with sparkles and it's got a slit that goes up to your mid thigh. I hope that's alright." Namjoon replies.
I didn't really have the option of choosing another dress so I guess it's okay. All that really matters to me is that I get Hoseok as my date.
