Her first love was pink. Soft, explorative, enchanting. When he looked at her, her heart beat in flourishes of pink. Her cheeks heated in shades of warm peach each time he said her name. Their first shared I love you under the bleachers left her feeling as though her body was exploding with all of the colors in the setting sun behind them. Her first romance was filled with tender touches and shared breaths under the summer cherry blossoms, their soft petals lying in the grass beneath them. Their love was the color of his lips and the flush of her cheeks as they stared into each other's eyes and shared their fears and dreams. He made her laugh and smile and feel as light as the cotton candy they had shared on the Ferris wheel together on their first date. As beautiful as the peonies he had been holding on her doorstep the night of prom. Her first love was as warm and tender as a pink sky.
