Chapter 1: Bad Boys, Good Lips

Lydia's POV:

Not once has Lydia's life ever felt so aligned. Summer is finally winding down, and the pending heartbeat of school has been becoming louder and louder in every students ears in the little town of Greenwood.

Lydia has always been a thriving student, and a bubbly character in the classroom according to all her teachers, but she has never felt the pressure of life come down upon her quite like this.

Her best friend Shawn Drews is sitting beside her with his "totally dreamy eyes" and his "to die for abs". He has known Lydia for as long as she can recall. From playground bullies to middle school emo phases, Shawn and Lydia have been through it all.

"You know you are kinda zoning out Lyds," says Shawn with a glint of laughter in his eyes.

"You know you are kinda disturbing my peaceful thinking time Shawny," I say mimicking him as we're lounging by his pool. His dad is a very well known man in the town, and owns half of the business in the surrounding as well.

"You know you don't need to be sassy to me little girl," Shawn says, poking fun at my 5'7 figure compared to his 6'3 stature. Back in middle school, I would always make fun of him for being shorter than me, oh how the tables have turned.

"Who did you just call little girl?" I say pushing my brown hair back behind my ears. I let my hair grow out all summer, and now it's just above my belly button.

My mom never used to let me grow my hair out this long because when I was younger I used to get the world's worst tangles.

"Oh just this weird girl who keeps showing up at my house and claiming to know me. It's kinda creepy," Shawn states, his blonde hair blowing back, probably rolling his green eyes that are hidden behind his Chip style sunglasses. He always looked so good.

It was an uncanny experience that over the summer between eighth grade and freshman year when he grew seven inches, got fit and if it was possible even more attractive. All the girls who swore they would never give him a second look we're lining up outside his door. To say I felt threatened was the understatement of the year. Shawn always made time for me, but his new flavor of the week never seemed to take a liking to me. Sophomore year, Georgia Keels, the most popular girl in the Junior class took a liking to Shawn. I mean seriously how unlucky could I get?

Georgia Keels was a 5'10 goddess who slept with a vampire and lived to tell the tale, or at least that's what my other best friend, Alicia Ramirez, told me. Georgia has hip length deep brown hair, tan skin, and brown eyes that have eyelashes the length of the Great Wall of China. Don't get me wrong, that girl is drop dead gorgeous but she is also the biggest bitch I know.

When she decided to make my life a living hell last year, I thought I was going to lose Shawn too. I told him so many times that she was cheating on him with Freddie Walters, his then best guy friend, he didn't believe me. That was until he walked in on them at a Spring Fling party a few months ago. From what he's told me, Freddie had more than just a broken friendship.

"You know maybe I should just kick you out. Make you leave since you don't seem to want to pay any attention to me," Shawn complains while making his puppy dog face.

"You could never get rid of me," I smirk as I feel him shift his legs from under neath me. Currently I am laying in between his legs, with my upper back and head resting in his stomach and chest. My arms are resting on his legs.

"That's it!" He announces as he grabs my waist making me squeal, and throws me over his shoulder.

"Shawn I swear to God! Stop it this instance!" I scream and I pound on his back trying to make him put me down.
