Ashley sat on the gravel floor. Crystal had her arms crossed in front of her chest as she looked at the people around them arguing. Ashley just lighted a cigarette and smoked. She was starting to regret coming with these people here. The sun would be down in a few hours and they were yelling at each other like that would fix their current problem.
Ashley rolls her eyes and gets up.
'' Hey '' She shouts, everyone stops talking as they look at the petite woman who just shouted like a mad woman. '' Are ya'll done arguing about what we can't change? We need a plan to get the fuck outta here, not getting on each other's throats '' She shouts as Crystal watches from the side her best friend giving orders.
'' She's right. We need a plan . '' Rick, the police officer says.
'' I have a jeep waiting for me outside the gates, close to the train station. It's a ten-minute walk there, this place is going to be surrounded soon enough. We need to get out while we can '' Ashley explains.
'' We have a van there too '' Glenn says.
Andrea, the blonde woman on her late thirties looks at Ashley with an arched eyebrow. Morales, T-Dog, Merle and Jacqui looking at the girl shocked.
'' So she speaks '' Merle says from the ground.
Ashley ignores the comment and walks towards the other side of the building, trying to get a good look at the street. It wasn't as crowded as the main one at the front, maybe they could make it out of the city alive.
'' I think we can make it '' She calls their attention '' There are at least thirty dead-ones around the street, turn right and we get to the train station. ''
''Thirty? '' Crystal gasps in terror. '' We don't even have that amount of ammo ''
'' Maybe we could find a truck, usually, they keep the keys on them '' Says Morales.
'' There's a place a couple of blocks away from here '' Crystal mumbles, not finding the whole situation a good idea.
The next ten minutes was arranging a plan to go get a truck and come back for the others. Ashley the first one to volunteer to go, Glenn and Rick the next ones.
Ashley approached her best friend.
''Hey, you gonna be alright? '' She asks the blonde girl who nods.
'' Just be careful out there okay? ''
The brunette nods with a smirk on her face '' Always am, stay away from Merle, he looks the kind to bite. '' She jokes '' After we get the truck, they dropping us at the outskirts of the town where i have my jeep and we go straight to the hospital before it gets darks ''
''What? No, they have a camp. We can go with them '' She argues with Ashley who gets her hands into fists. Crystal was like a sister to Ashley, but since the apocalypse has started, Crystal changed completely. Turning herself into a completely different person.
'' Ashley '' Glenn called the brunette over.
'' We talk 'bout this later '' Ashley turns her back from her best friend and walks towards the two men that wait for her at the entrance of the stairs. The rest of the people that were on the rooftop follow the three people that are in charge of getting a truck, Crystal follows soon after, giving a tight smile towards T-Dog who sits across from Merle who has his hand on the pipe, locked with a pair of handcuffs.
''So, what's the plan? '' The brunette asks.
'' What about a distraction? '' Crystal asks, the first time the group hears her voice.
'' What kind of distraction? '' Rick asks, his hands go up to his hips as he thinks too.
'' Sharks are attracted to blood right? The dead ones are attracted by sound and smell '' Ashley says.
'' They can tell us by smell? '' Asks Andrea
'' Can't you? They smell dead, we don't '' Glenn says, with an amount of sass.
'' If bad ideas were an Olympic event, this would take the gold '' Crystal disapproved of the idea.
In the middle of the streets of Atlanta stood Glenn, Rick, and Ashley covered from head to toe with dead-ones guts. The smell was putrified and made the three volunteers gag. But as soon as they joined the dead on the road, they played like them and acted as one of them. Trying to get to the truck station two blocks away from the place the rest of the group was. Either plan wasn't safe, but this one seemed to be a lot dangerous than Ashley's and maybe, in the end, it would work. It had to work. Ashely tried to keep her eyes on the back of Glenn's head as they had to walk and act like the herd that was passing. A couple of drops of rain started to hit on Ashley's nose and suddenly she stopped earing Glenn's, Rick's and her own heart stop beating.
'' We have to run '' She whispers, trying to not let the slowwalkers around the ear. The grunts were so loud that she thought of having a normal conversation wouldn't hurt them, but again, there was always 50/50 chances of success on Ashley's plans.
Rick decides that Ashley's plan is better than the one the group formed. The smell was washing off pretty quickly.
'' Run '' He says and the three sprint away from the herd, calling attention to them and having to fight a couple of dead-ones in the process.
'' We're going to need a distraction '' Glenn yells.
The three spot a red Camaro in one of the hallways and they smirk.
'' That's it '' Ashley points at the red car. The three sprint towards the red car.
'' Wait at the entrance as we get the truck '' Rick says as Glenn breaks into the car and nods. The alarm going off making Ashley and Rick cover their ears.
'' Guess it's just me and you now '' Rick and Ashley sprint towards the trucks. Ashley discarding off of her coat covered in guts as she helps Rick kill some of the dead-ones nearby.
'' You drive, i stay in the back '' Ashley opens the trunk of the truck as Ricks nods and starts the truck.
Ashley slumps on the floor of the truck and takes a deep breath. The worst is over.
'' We're here '' Rick knocks on the glass in front to signalize their arrival. Ashley opens once again the trunk and the faces of the group come into view. She helps everyone get in but she notices one missing person.
'' Where's Merle? ''
